I hear you, everyone I know seems to agree that their self titled album is not their best. It is still a classic though, and has some of my favorite AiC songs.

Do i like Dio-era Sabbath....HELL YEAS! When i was like and completing my Sabbath collection, I went into HMV and saw they had Heaven & Hell, so I thought hmm...I've never heard of this album, then when i got home and realised it wasnt Ozzy, i didnt know what to think. Anyway to this day that album and Mob Rules are two of my favourite Sabbath albums. Sorry for the anecdote, but i would never get to share it otherwise lol

Yeah man I love every Alice In Chains release. That includes their new album, which IMO is just as good as their self titled album.

yeah 801 Live is one of my fave albums ever. and Jagged Edge is the remix album to Jagged. it's actually pretty good.

it's cool, i bought it in 2007 when it came out :) a good live record, but it's a little too close to Jagged for me to listen to it that often.

Ok, now I've carefully listened to Long Day Fall and Only Baby (move for me).. Yeah, it's good! Actually it reminds me of The Sky Moves Sideways in some strange way. I don't know why, since most of the elements are different. It's Porcupine Tree + ambient - "Metal" in my ears.

Recommendations when it comes to Porcupine Tree albums or in general? If you want early stuff by Porcupine Tree try the song Nine Cats (Not the whole album. it's not that good) Then try Voyage 34, it's different. Hopefully in a good way. My alltime favourites are Deadwing and In Absentia though.

I'd go for 'New Selected Poems' if I were you for the Edwin Morgan book. Enjoy! Mike

Happy New Year, to you as well! I was only introduced to Porcupine Tree recently, when I joined LastFM. A freind suggested them(could have been you, because I cannot remember who exactly). I think they are great and would love to hear more.

yes, i've heard them, but i'm not really into them. i prefer the first few Ozzy solo albums. for some reason i just can't stand Dio's voice. i liked him better when he was in Rainbow.

actually yes, i like everything up until Black Sabbath Vol. 4. they got real lazy after that.

Yeah old Neil has always been one crazy bastard but i love the guy. My fav quote from him, ascertains to the success of a rare chart single (After the Gold Rush). " This song left me driving in the middle of the road, i soon got bored there and headed for the ditch".

I think they put down Born Again because of its production and mixing, that, we must admit, really really sucks. hehe Overall, it's a great album, with a ridiculously awesome vocalist. Zero the Hero and the title track are pure class.

I shall, for sure. Thanks for the add and the album... I'll let you know when I hear it. ^^

Heey... thanks for the shout. :) Maiden's the best band out there, IMHO. Don't really care about the hype on them. Though I didn't heard the Dio years Black Sabbath (except for Heaven and Hell, wich is awesome), if I had to choose one w/o Ozzy, it would be Born Again (with Ian Gillan). What a record! When I want to listen Dio/other vocals albums, I just end up listening the classics... :s haha Specially Master of Reality, wich is my personal favorite. Greetings from Brazil!

i think i might be able to get a hold of seven moons live anyway so dont worry about it. No i havent heard of BBM. Are they good?

The Trower solo albums are definitely worth it just to hear Jimmy Dewar's (singer) voice! I have the studio version but i might have to listen to the live one then

CSN with Young on the Deja Vu album are incredible. Seven Moons is a good album but not quite as good as some of Trower's solo albums in the seventies

re: SNL album. I don't think i own it anymore, or it's in storage. It was originally found in a $2 bargain bin, has a bunch of neatish artists like Beastie Boys and Neil Young. Mp3 is no longer on my iPod but i can try and hunt it down if you're desperately after it?

I received my copy of the Deerfoot CD from my cousin, Ryan, who is the keyboard player in the band. :-) They should be coming out with a new CD in 2010.

Couldn`t agree more about Mirrorball. Mixing it with the grunge boys, not only demonstrated the high esteem he is held in but re-charged his career to a new younger audience. He also did some of his best work with Crazy Horse late 70s - 80s. Rust Never Sleeps is an awesome DVD. Keep rocking.

Ha nice one, if you want the hear the 'real' sepultura then i recommend Chaos AD or Arise because on the Roots album they narrowed down their sound, but its still a great album....as for Paul Weller i had a decent number of plays but my iTunes reset and went weird, so I am a fan, especially of the wild wood and the stanley road albums

Thanks for the shout Lewis and kind comments. Sorry took so long to get back to you. Yeah Neil Young has been my main man for more years than i wish to remember and you`re right is work with Pearl Jam is outstanding. Had a look at your list - warms my heart to see such great taste in one so young, in this X CRAPTOR age keep rocking. James.

the self-titled is definately worth checking out. and i don't think i'm gonna look into much more Iggy Pop. it seems like his albums are either fantastic or godawful. and no, i haven't heard them, but will look into it. i really like Robert Fripp.
