  • 2007 Is the Year That 2007 Was

    2 Ene 2008, 23:24

    Thing of the Year:

    **Oink
*Poor, poor Oink. It was so good to me and hundreds of thousands other until its untimely death. Oink was the #1 reason I was able to listen to a record amount of music in 2007. Its bastard children, What.cd and Waffles.fm just can’t live up to their father’s name. Not yet, at least. I’m all for buying CDs and bands getting their $$$ worth, but Oink wasn’t just all about stealing music, but it was the only place in the world that you can easily access albums and material that has been out of print for years, maybe even decades. It was also the largest organized database of recorded music around. It was a crime to shut Oink down.

    Bands/Artists of 2007:

**of Montreal: Band of the Year 2007
*of Montreal wins ‘Band of the Year’ for a number of reasons. First, their 2007 album, Hissing Fauna, Are You the Destroyer?, which is also my favorite of the year, came out waaaay back in January and managed to best every album released thereafter to retain the ‘album of the year’ crown. Second, they had one of the best live shows of the year. Sure, it was all paid for by that horrible Outback Steakhouse ad (yes! Let’s go Outback tonight!), but there’s no denying the awesomeness of Kevin Barnes hitting those extreme high notes of “Gronlandic Edit” standing near the top of a ladder wearing a 15 foot long wedding dress. They were a force in the beginning of the year, during the summer, and during the fall and winter seasons. They are the 2007 band of the year.

    **Tom Waits
*This one is more of a personal artist of the year. He put out his masterpiece triple album Orphans late enough in 2006 so that I was listening to it for all of 2007. And thanks to Oink (see above), I was also able to get into just about every other album of his. of Montreal may have been the band of the year, but there was no other artist I listened to more than Tom Waits. Just look at my most played artist here on Last.fm. Plus, I got to see him live this year, which is a very rare treat!

    **Arcade Fire
*The Arcade Fire is definitely the runners-up for band of the year. They had their excellent sophomore album, Neon Bible, come out pretty early in the year (March) and had a huge tour follow that the rest of the year. They probably would have won ‘band of the year’ if their album was better than of Montreal’s, however, close but no cigar.

    **Radiohead
*Radiohead easily would have been band of the year if they had only started doing stuff earlier than October. They were definitely the most important band of the last quarter of the year, with In Rainbows being the best album of the last few months of the year, but didn’t have a strong enough presence the previous nine months.

    **LCD Soundsystem
*This was James Murphy’s breakout year, finally, and he had the album, Sound Of Silver, and incredible live show to prove that his band and record label are the Factory Records of the 21st century.

    **Panda Bear
*I’m putting down Panda Bear rather than Animal Collective because Lennox did more on his own than anyone else in Animal Collective this year. Not only was he part of Strawberry Jam, one of the year’s finest albums (with “Bro's,” maybe the best song released by anybody in years), but his own solo creation, Person Pitch, blew his daytime job’s album away and established himself as an important artist with his own unique identity.

    **Glen Hansard and Markéta Irglová
*You know you had a good year when you’re a musician, not an actor, and you have Oscar buzz surrounding you in an acting category. No, Glen and/or Markéta won’t be nominated for any acting categories for Once at any of the major film awards, but I’ve read some acting award shortlists that had their names on it. Not only did they star in one of the best and most popular films of 2007, but the songs they wrote for the film (or rather for the Swell Season) were actually really great. They should get an Oscar nom for best song at the Oscars next year, and a performance in front of the likes of Daniel Day Lewis, Jack Nicholson, and Tim Burton, among many others, should cap off their amazing year.

    **Ted Leo and the Pharmacists
*I never really got into Ted Leo and the Pharmacists until this year, and they just happen to be a recurring theme in my life this year. They started off the year by releasing what is probably the finest album of Ted’s life, Living With the Living, but they also provided a couple of my favorite concerts of 2007, one in Los Angeles, and the other in Brooklyn a few months later during my trip to NYC.

    **Kanye West
*If you’re my age, remember back in high school and before that, back if you were a while guy who listened to hip hop, either you were terribly culturally misguided, or just listening to it in great fits of irony. What happened to that? It seems that this year, hip hop became more accepted than ever by all skin colors the world over. Maybe it’s because gangster rap is pretty much dead, and the glamorous, brainy, and indie-friendly style of Kanye West made hip hop easier to swallow for whitey.

    **Grizzly Bear
*Grizzly Bear’s 2006 album Yellow House was one of the most difficult albums to get into I’ve ever heard, but at some point in 2007 I finally realized its greatness, all the while the band was having a huge year, becoming one of the biggest indie bands in all the land.

    **M.I.A.
*I never got into M.I.A.’s first album, and it wasn’t until a friend linked me to her crazy amazing video for “Bird Flu” back in January that I finally took notice of her. She spent the spring and most of the summer prepping Kala, which would turn out to be the most culturally relevant release of all of 2007.

    **Bryan Scary
*Still haven’t heard of him? I guess he’s still kind of a personal secret (for now), but his late 2006 album, The Shredding Tears, was one of my most listened to albums of 2007. Plus, he was one of the best (and tiniest—venue-wise) live shows I saw all year.

    **Girl Talk
*What can I say? Girl Talk’s 2006 album Night Ripper was the primary soundtrack to basically every party I went to (and hosted) in 2007.

    Best Concerts of the Year:

**Arcade Fire/LCD Soundsystem @ Shoreline Amphitheatre (Mountain View, California) September 21 – This was the concert/tour of the year, by far. Two of the best bands around today, not only in the studio but two of the best live bands as well, come together to melt faces off. It was a nice bonus I was about 10 feet away from the bands, too.
**Ted Leo and the Pharmacists/The Thermals/Birds of Avalon/Mucca Pazza @ McCarren Park Pool (Brooklyn, New York) August 12 – In August of this year I finally made my way over to New York City for the first time in my life, and this free concert in Brooklyn really made the whole trip. It was incredibly hot, and I thought I was going to pass out for a while there, but the music made it all better. Not to mention, it was great to walk around and see all the other activities happening around the pool between sets. An incredible experience for an out-of-towner. (The Thermals, Birds of Avalon, Mucca Pazza!)
**Wilco @ Greek Theatre (Berkeley, California) August 24 - I FINALLY got to see Wilco after all these years of waiting, and it was awesome, as expected. They played pretty much everyone I wanted to hear and then some.
**Of Montreal/The Blow @ Great American Music Hall (San Francisco, California) February 2 Kevin Barnes and Co reached for the stars and reached for Bowie, and they just about got it. The costumes, the makeup, the video screens… all ridiculous and amazing and everything in between. Makes you wish for the days when bands came to your town not only to play songs off the best album of their career, but also really entertain the crowd, too. This is also the show that got me started on my fascination with The Blow, as well.
**Girl Talk/Dan Deacon @ Lower Sproul Plaza (Berkeley, California) October 1 – This was one of UC Berkeley’s free outdoor concerts, so it was kind of weird to see Girl Talk in daylight, but it still proved to be as fun as any Girl Talk show. Plus, Dan Deacon had more than enough outdoor room to try out his crowd participation activities.
**Avenue Q in London in May - Not really a rock concert or anything, but it is musical, since it’s a, uh, musical. I saw this in London in May and saw Wicked during the same trip. I thought Wicked kind of sucked, and it made Avenue Q look all the much better. Plus, the songs are all works of brilliance, and they really speak to me at this point in my life. (credit: Robert Lopez and Jeff Marx).
**Tom Waits @ Bridge School Benefit at Shoreline Amphitheatre (Mountain View, California) October 27 – Not everyone gets to see Tom Waits live, but I can now say that I did. It was at a big amphitheatre with thousands of other people, so it wasn’t the most intimate of Tom Waits performances. However, him playing at the same concert as the terrible Metallica, John Mayer, and an uncharacteristically dull Neil Young, really helped make the long night worth it.
**Page France/Headlights @ Sonoma State University (Rohnert Park, California) March 24 – My friend Nick set this show up, and Page France and Headlights came to play a good, tiny show at my small college, which was pretty awesome. Both bands are great and have a really fun and energetic live show. But the really memorable part of the night was hanging out with Page France at my friend Mike’s house after the show. Good times.
**Dethklok @ Pauley Ballroom (Berkeley, California) November 2 – Thousands came, only a few were admitted. Angry metalheads were about to riot, police carefully watched the tense situation. It was almost right out of the TV show (there were not nearly enough fan causalities to be right out of the TV show). And after a lot of patience and some luck, my friends and I were able to get into this Dethklok show (the second half of it at least) and watch one of the best concerts of the year. The songs are great and funny, and the band was on, but the best part were the full length music videos projected on 3 big screens that were synchronized with what the live band was playing. EPIC. Also: incredibly sad that I missed “openers” …and You Will Know Us by the Trail of Dead. I’ll see them live again one day…
**Malajube @ The Independent (San Francisco) March 2 – One of my favorite bands, Autolux, headlined this show, but they suffered from major equipment malfunctions and bitter mood swings, allowing Malajube to steal the show. Little did I know this would be the band’s final (only?) Bay Area show of 2007. They need to come back ASAP.
**Van Halen @ Oracle Arena (Oakland) December 22 – The last concert I saw in 2007 was Van Halen reunited with Diamond Dave. They absolutely tore it up, even 16 year old Wolfgang. They played everything I knew by them and more. They looked and sounded excited, healthy, and relevant again.
    **Best Concerts I Missed:
    *Daft Punk
    *Sonic Youth performing Daydream Nation
    *M.I.A./Cool Kids
    *Deerhoof/Busdriver
    *The Hold Steady/Art Brut
    *The White Stripes/Cold War Kids
*…and You Will Know Us by the Trail of Dead
    *Bjork/Joanna Newsom
    *Kanye West in London
    *Pitchfork Music Festival

    Disappointments:

**Big Band Albums – A lot of my favorite big indie and indie-ish bands put out albums this year than can be considered the worst ones of their careers:
*The Shins – Wincing the Night Away: I know they wanted to expand their sound and all, put they just went too far. It seems they focused on making their guitars and keyboards sounding as weird as possible that they forgot to do what they used to be the best at: writing excellent and very catchy melodies. And good songs in general.
*Queens of the Stone Age – Era Vulgaris: Only a couple of years ago, this band was an unstoppable force in my life, now my hero Josh Homme just sounds bored with life. Era Vulgaris is probably the best album on this “disappointment” list, but their albums are becoming increasing stale, and it’s apparent that Josh is at his best when sharing frontman duties.
*Modest Mouse – We Were Dead Before the Ship Even Sank: Not a bad album, but Modest Mouse just aren’t as weird as they used to be. Less weirdness, for me, means less interest.
*Rilo Kiley – Under the Blacklight: While “Silver Lining” is one of the band’s best songs ever, hearing “The Moneymaker” for the first time was equivalent to hearing Weezer’s “Beverley Hills” back in ’05: the sound of the destruction of youth, innocence, and warm memories. I was kind of hoping they would use “A Man/Me/Then Jim” from their last album as a starting point for the follow-up, some masterful epic folk sound, but instead they shot right for the big record sales with this disco crap. Did it work? Are they getting the big airplay and arena crowds?
*Art Brut – It’s a Bit Complicated: It’s disappointing, but it’s acceptable. Lots of bands with such a specific sound will have a hard time following up such a memorable debut. It was less funny and less memorable than Bang Bang Rock and Roll, but they’re still working their sound out, I still have lots of faith in them and their talent.
*Smashing Pumpkins - Adore is my 2nd favorite album of all time, Mellon Collie is in my top 10, and the Pumpkins were the #1 band of my youth, so I should have been extremely stoked to hear about their reunion, right?? Well… no. Not at all. This was the most unnecessary reunion ever. The book on the Pumpkins was closed. Sealed. Shut. They started off great, like all of the best bands, they got better, then they eventually started to suck, then broke up. That’s it. End of story. There’s no unfinished business. No need for a reunion. Maybe in 25 years or so. No one wanted you back; the truest fans didn’t want you back at least. But Billy had to make an ugly zombie out of the once beautiful corpse that was the Smashing Pumpkins. No reunion should be allowed if only 50% of the original lineup is participating in it. Billy managed to write a Pumpkins album that was even worse and more boring than Machina. The legacy of the Smashing Pumpkins has been tarnished forever thanks to this unnecessary reunion.
The White Stripes - The band puts out maybe their best album since 2001 and gears up for the biggest US tour of their lives (the White Stripes were headlining in arenas, people!!) only to scrap it all at the last minute. Tragic.
**Oink Shut Down - See above.
**Across the Universe - What an awful movie. Beatles fans should have been vomiting in horror during the movie. I almost was, at least. If you want to see how musicals should be done from now on, go see Once.
**Sonoma County music scene - It sucks. Like, a lot.

    Surprises:

**Hip Hop more awesome than ever?? - Kanye West (jammed with Peter Bjorn and John!), Jay-Z, Busdriver (toured with Deerhoof!), Lil’ Wayne, and even R. Kelly… hip hop is the new indie rock for college white boys.
**Coconut Records - Yes, I know Jason Schwartzman has a musical background, as a drummer, but it’s always a surprise when an actor makes a very good record, because that’s pretty rare.
**Radiohead - Well, obviously their huge announcement on October was the biggest surprise of 2007.
**Tegan and Sara - They finally put out an album that didn’t completely suck!! If only this was their debut album, then I would probably be going absolutely nuts over them.
**Rivers CuomoPig - So this Rivers/Weezer demo leaked earlier this year, and it gives me some hope for the next Weezer album. I like the lyrics, and I like the very Blue Album acoustic guitar and harmonica. However, the inclusion of 2007 band demo “This is the Way” (found on Rivers demo collection Alone) hints that Weezer may be unleashing an album onto the public that’s even worse than the abysmal Make Believe.

    Overrated:

**Against Me! - Spin Magazine, what?? This is your 2007 album of the year? You act like this is the first punk album you’ve heard in your life. Why are people going so nuts over this band? An angry, white, well-read, pseudo-punk band is nothing new or original or even relevant. This stuff has already been done, and been done better than countless bands such as Bad Religion, NOFX, Rancid, and a million other Epitaph/Fat Wreck Chords bands that were relevant a decade ago.
**The National - Their album Boxer contains a few of the years best tracks (“Fake Empire” “Slow Show” “Racing Like a Pro””) but a good 70% of the songs on the album are remarkably boring.
**Animal Collective - They’re a band that really benefits from having about 2 – 3 classic tracks on their albums and not really all that much more. I would say that a third of all the tracks on each of their records are pretty much junk. I don’t know. They’re hit or miss to me.

Old Stuff I Finally Got into This Year

***Two songs from 2006 were two of the most played songs of 2007 out of everything in my collection:
*“Young Folks” by Peter Bjorn and John (This song was a big part of my life early in 2007 until it got all big and stuff.)
*“Knife” by Grizzly Bear (This song also holds the distinction of best music video of the year.)
***Brian Eno - In 2007 I kind of started to drift away from big guitars and lyrics and stuff to provide emotion from music, and more into the emotions that can be created my actual music. Brian Eno is the king of all of that.
***Dennis Wilson – Pacific Ocean Blues - I really got into the Beach Boys a lot this year, and thanks to Oink, I was able to listen to Dennis Wilson’s solo masterpiece Pacific Ocean Blues, which is probably unheard of even by some of the biggest Beach Boys fans.
***Joy Division - Finally saw 24 Hour Party People. Have yet to see Control.
***Van Halen - Thanks to the reunion. Which leads to…

    Reunions

**Led Zeppelin – I really don’t know how I feel about the Led Zeppelin reunion. I would think that a reunion of theirs would tarnish their great legacy, but they just might be too awesome to be tarnished. A one-off benefit show is acceptable, but I think if they were to reunite, they would have to go all out and launch the biggest summer tour ever next year. They must go all-out like they did in the 70’s, and nothing less than all-out.
**Van Halen – This reunion works because there was unfinished business in the band when VH became DLR-less. They have to tour enough to get that old Hagar scent out.
**Smashing Pumpkins - If anything, their unnecessary reunion and crappy new album emphasized the greatness of their 90’s material.
**My Bloody Valentine – Only the announcement came in 2007, we’ll have to wait till next summer for the actual reunion, but everyone who is smart on earth cares and is excited. This is what reunions are all about. And not only are they going to tour, but we might get more than one release of new and old never-before-heard MBV material! YES.
**The Jesus and Mary Chain – It was big at first, and then it just kind of fizzled out, didn’t it?
    **The Police – Don’t care.
**Genesis – Yay Phil Collins is one weird dude. But generally, I don’t care.
**Moldy Peaches – Juno brought these two back together, kind of. Now that they’re arguably more popular than ever, will they be back for good? I’d like to hear another album.
**The Breeders – Again, just the announcement, but I’m pretty excited. I think another Pixies album might be a bad idea (maybe), but a new Breeders album would be welcome.
**Blur – So… is Graham back or not? Please say yes.

Thing to Look Forward to 2008:

**Eels - I think I’m finally going to see one of my all-time favorite bands for only the 2nd time early next year. Plus they have 3 CDs and 2 DVDs of retrospectives coming out on the same day in January, plus possibly a new album. 2008 may very well be the year of the Eels, which is fitting since it will mark the 10 year anniversary of the release of my favorite album of all time, Electro-Shock Blues.
**Autolux - Their much-delayed sophomore album finally comes out in 2008. Fingers crossed.
**Weezer - Well, they have a new album coming out. Will it continue the Make Believe crap or will it finally be a return to greatness? One demo (“Pig”) says possible greatness while another (and thankfully scrapped) demo (“This Is the Way”) says crap. However, in the linear notes for Rivers’ demo collection, it says that they’re working on a song that is apparently a crazy, 6-minute epic jam, which sounds hopeful and incredibly intriguing.
**Nada Surf - They’re on quite a roll, Lucky should be a good one.
**Bryan Scary - This great artist has a new album coming out and they are giving it away for free on the album’s website one track at a time starting in January. Get on that!
**of Montreal - Can they follow up their amazing 2007 by putting out another great album in 2008?
**Fiery Furnaces - They should be putting out a new album or two in 2008, like they do every year.
**Radiohead Tour - Maybe except for Led Zeppelin, this will be the tour of 2008.
**My Bloody Valentine - I don’t care who gets back together in 2008, this will be the reunion of the year (time to prove me wrong, Pavement).
**Cat Power - The song “Song To Bobby” off her new covers LP Jukebox is possibly the best Cat Power song I’ve ever heard, so she’s already off to a great start for 2008.
**The Mars Volta - Their last album and a half were pretty horrible, at least compared to their debut masterpiece D-Loused in the Comatorium, but the tracklisting for their new album actually shows a good 10 or so songs, and I don’t think any of them went over 10 minutes, which is a good thing!
**Stephen Malkmus and the Jicks - Looks like SM & the Jicks will put out another fun album to hold us over until the inevitable Pavement reunion.
**Queens of the Stone Age - Josh Homme says he wants to rush into the studio fast because he’s playing with his favorite lineup ever right now. Really? Better than Homme/Oliveri/Lanegan/Grohl?? Well, I trust his judgment. Though I really wish he would give Nick a call one day.
***Scheduled to have albums out in 2008:
*…and You Will Know Us by the Trail of Dead – Should be as awesome as it will be ignored as usual
*Girl Talk – I need new party music.
    *Joanna Newsom
    *Sufjan Stevens
    *Regina Spektor
    *Malajube
    *Man Man
    *Eagles of Death Metal
    *The Thermals
    *Sonic Youth
    *The Raconteurs
    *Beck
*Yeah Yeah Yeahs – Was Is Is a hint of better things to come?
    *Lily Allen
    *Lady Sovereign
    *Flaming Lips
    *Annuals
    *The Blow
*Green Day – Hey American Idiot showed promise, I think.
  • radiohead - in rainbows: a review after more than one listen.

    12 Oct 2007, 19:41

Well, it was exactly 1,584 days between the release of Radiohead's In Rainbows this week and their previous album, Hail to the Thief, back in that magical summer of 2003. I know the exact number of days because I carved each one as a tally mark onto my chest (or maybe i used this website: http://www.timeanddate.com/date/durationresult.html?m1=6&d1=9&y1=2003&m2=10&d2=10&y2=2007).

ANYWAY, basically no other band can cause me to freak out over a release of an album more than Radiohead. Especially when they decide to release it many months before expected and only 10 days after they announce it. And for whatever price you want to pay. And directly from their own website. And also offer a whole deluxe box of goodies (including eight bonus tracks). So yeah, that kind of thing is really exciting to me.

Radiohead toured last year and played a bunch of new songs throughout the tour, some of which i was blown away by, and others not so much. The album features some from both categories. I'll just go through them one by one...

1.) 15 Step - This was a pretty cool one to hear live last year, but it didn't blow me away. The highlight of this one is the crazy complex beat, which is either in 5/8 or 5/4. The song is hectic and really energic, much like the incredible opening track from HTTT, 2+2=5. 15 Step (another Radiohead opening track with numbers!) is a solid opener, but cant hold up a light to previous album openers (2+2=5, Airbag, Planet Telex, Packt Like Sardines...). Still, it has a bunch of kids shouting something every now and then throughout the song, which is pretty neat. **** (out of 5)

2.) Bodysnatchers - This one starts off with one of Radiohead's fuzziest and bounciest basslines ever. The rest of the song is fast, loud, and intense. However, there isn't really anything that totally jumps out at me as unique. After several listens, I still can't recall how the song sounds just by looking at the song title, which is totally uncommon with Radiohead songs, but this song has it, as do a few other In Rainbows tracks later on. Still, sounds great. ****

3.) Nude- This song was a contender for OK Computer, which was released in 1997, so that shows how old this one is. Nude is one of the gentlest songs Radiohead has ever recorded. I've always thought that the band's best songs were their ballads, the slow and beautiful ones. This is by all means one of them. ****

4.) Weird Fishes/Arpeggi - Kind of like 15 Step, this one was fun to hear live, but I wasn't into it 100%. Though, this was the one all the press and other fans were raving about. On the album, it's SO much better than the old live version. Especially the dreamlike 'Weird Fishes' segment between about 3:00 and 3:45. It's one of the best moments on the album. ****

5.) All I Need - Another very 'gentle' song and a big highlight of last year's tour. It's also one of a few apparent love songs from Thom, which is a nice departure from all the anti-government, technology, and end-of-the-world themes. This song also has one of the most beautiful climaxes/endings you hear in any song. ****

6.) Faust Arp - This is the only song on the main disc of the album that no one outside of the band and the people who worked on the album had ever heard. With kind of a strange title and a spot in the middle of the tracklisting, many, like myself, believed it would be some sort of instrumental or short, experimental transition of a song, like Radiohead have done in the past with songs like "Treefingers" on Kid A or "Hunting Bears" on Amnesiac. Instead, this shortest song on In Rainbows is a gorgeous Beatles-esque and even Elliott Smith-esque acoustic guitar and strings-heavy song. It has Radiohead best acoustic guitar picking and string arrangements since, well, ever. A VERY welcome surprise. Makes me wonder what "MK1" and "MK2" on the bonus disc are all about. ****

7.) Reckoner - After the first several listens of this track, I almost had to label this one as being filler material. But certain aspects of it have shown up to make me think otherwise. Thom's falsetto here is in prime form. The melodies are excellent, as are the piano chord progressions in the background. Oh, and the drums are great too. It's all a bit repetitive but nothing short of great. ****

8.) House of Cards - The is the track I most wanted to hear before release. House of Cards was my favorite new song from last year (just barely over 'Videotape'). This one has held a special place within since I first got into it back in June 2006. I saw Radiohead on June 29 last year and heard this song. The day before, a very close friend of mine died in St. Louis and I spent most of the sad trip to St. Louis listening to my new Radiohead bootlegs, and something about this song really stuck me throughout that experience. It was something hopeful and positive. This is the gentlest and finest moment on In Rainbows. ****1/2

9.) Jigsaw Falling into Place - Formerlly 'Open Pick' from last year's tour... this one had a crazy distorted guitar driven lead. It was kind of a turn-off to hear should a loud guitar sound in a Radiohead song these days, but luckily on the album, those loud guitars are wisely replaced by acoustic guitars. Still, the sound of the guitars can't conceal the truth, that this is a very rare but authentic form of Radiohead filler. There's just not too much going on with this one. ****

10.) Videotape - The barely runner-up to my favorite new song from last year. This was an absolute experience to hear live and Thom Yorke's solo version from From the Basement was pefection. The song is simple enough, so it should be pretty impossible to screw this one up, right. RIGHT?? Well, they didn't completely EFF it up, but they did add this weird drum/percussion thing that I believe takes away from the whole song. The beautiful piano and background noises are overwhelmed by the awkward sounding percussion. But, nevertheless, the song is amazing in its own right. And well, I'll always have the mp3 of the From the Basement version of 'Videotape'! ****

So. In Rainbows is yet another thoroughly solid Radiohead release. No surprise. However, it does have a few songs that are the closest things to Radiohead filler since (besides 'We Suck Young Blood') the filler-fest that was Pablo Honey.

My favorite Radiohead albums in order as of now are:
    1.) OK Computer *****
    2.) Kid A *****
    3.) Amnesiac ****1/2
    4.) The Bends ****1/2
5.) Hail to the Thief ****1/2
    6.) In Rainbows ****
    7.) Pablo Honey ***
