I was trying to select some King Crimson's albums I like the most but when I was exploring their discography I found that the best albums are from the 60's and 70's Crimson's era. It's characterized as or with some influence of improvization and that's the aspects I like the best (especially like early albums by Pink Floyd). So there's the concrete list:

In the Court of the Crimson King (1969)
In the Wake of Poseidon (1970)
Lizard (1970)
Islands (1971)
Larks' Tongues in Aspic (1973)
Starless and Bible Black (1974)
Red (1974)

not really a surprise.. Very, very many progbands just failed during the 80s and 90s.. 80s was definitively the worst, but Jethro Tull and Camel still make some good stuff
