Ah, I never use the streaming service of Last FM, I use it purely as a means of keeping tracks of my and other friends' stats. Thanks for listening to the Sahn, I'm pleased that you found something about it that you liked. That Mesektet you mentioned was a good call. Reminded me very much of a band called Amon who also used to do that hollow - deep - ageless and unsettling sound that made me feel like I was inside a massive Egyptian tomb. The album I'm thinking of is El Khela, if you liked the Mesektet, you'd find that up your street, presuming you don't already know about the project. As for Thomas Koner, thanks for reminding me, I must go and listen to Teimo again, I find it the perfect summer antidote, even though the temperature hasn't risen above 70F in London for the past few days. Jealous?!

Excellent, I'll link myself to Skadi. As much as you can on Bandcamp, it doesn't operate like Facebook does, which is a good thing, seeing as a lot of sites seem to be going that way, LinkedIn, MyFitnessPal... just trying to turn themselves in FB, and I tried to get away from the place! Thanks for your kind words about my writing. There's still plenty to write about but not enough time with whatever else is going on. I'm down as a Guest Contributor at the moment so I can still submit stuff whenever I see fit. I'll listen to Skorneg as well, it's on Spotify, different stuff than Havan? We'll see. I played that Havan album an awful lot, it was a very slow burner. It's not great, but it's very downplayed, even for dark ambient, which I like. Sleep Research Facility did it better. Especially Stealth.

Kave and both His Divine Grace both sound very interesting, I'll look them up. I have been quite disappointed with the quality of dark ambient released this year and haven't heard much that has caught my attention, the only really good thing is the latest album from LCC. I took a look at Mixcloud and signed up but what's the point in following DJs from certain genres if they throw lots of other genres into their mix? I think I'll just research stuff on Spotify and RYM, I'll listen to your lists when they go up on Mixcloud though. I stopped writing for HH for the most part to concentrate on creating my own music rather than writing about other peoples'. I've been working on an ethereal/ethnic classical project but it's very early days and I'll be confident to spread info on it more when it's the right time. If you're curious though, look up Sahn on Bandcamp.

Recently discovered it thanks to Spotify. At some point I should really go through all of the CL back catalogue. Really like that album. It's one of those rare ones that you can stick on repeat all night and it doesn't lose its atmosphere.

Conóceme

I'm an old-school rivethead, freelance writer, Pagan polytheist/animist, mystic, and dark fusion/gothic bellydancer living in Portland, OR, USA. My dark fusion ritual dance project, started in 2006, is called Shrine of Skadi. I am the temple keeper for The Black Stone Hermitage, a small dark Pagan sanctuary and spiritual incubation space featuring a psychomanteum (mirror gazing room).

As you can tell by my charts here, I am REALLY into dark ambient. So much so, in fact, that I'm writing a book manuscript entitled "Endarkenment: The Esoteric in Dark Ambient Music and Culture." Details can be found via my website.

Aside from music and dark fusion dance, my interests include: tea drinking and tea culture, deep ecology, esoteric practices, indigenous peoples' sovereignty, shrines and altars, caves, crypts and subterranean temples, abandoned places, labyrinths, snakes and serpent wisdom, hiking in mossy forests, Swedish and German culture and language, radical left-wing philosophy of work and leisure, feminism, herbalism and plant spirit medicine, altered states of consciousness, runes, Norse mythology, gothic home decorating and domestic arts, gift economies, simple living, and permaculture. Oh, and I love being child-free. I have never wanted children.
