Thanks for the links, I gave the bands a listen. I liked Abriosis. I was a little bit sceptical about Hellchamber as you said it was like Judas Priest. I have a few Priest CDs, love the Painkiller album but strictly speaking, Halford's voice is too high for my taste. However, the Hellchamber singer's voice is not THAT high so I was pleasantly surprised. They sound like they came straight from the beginning of the 80ies which I like. So, they are from Canada in general or even from your area? I am afraid I cannot recommend much because you seem to know a lot more stuff than I do. The only thing that came to my mind was, as you like Velvet Acid Christ, you might like Suicide Commando as well. The songs I like are "Love Breeds Suicide", "Dein Herz, Meine Gier", "See You in Hell" and "Evildoer". Enjoy in case you don't know the band!

It was good to see a part of the family again after a couple of months!!! Not years. *lol*

Good to hear back from you. You don't wanna know how my Christmas and New Year was. ;) I am not a big fan of Christmas anyways but it was good to see a part of the family again after a couple of years. The rest is not worth mentioning. I hope you had a better start into the New Year! How was it? Do you have a lot of snow in Canada? I hardly watch any News ... We have been having some snow for the last 10 days or so. At least here in Northern Germany. But the days are getting longer again, it is already perceivable. Do you have some more musically recommendations? Any new discoveries?

I found my tranquility and opted for "Silencing Machine" for the time being. When listening to some songs off of SM and mostly the black meddle assasins, the "Machine" spoke more to me. I like "Give me the grave" pretty much but I need to listen to the whole album a couple more times. What do you think of "Silencing Machine"?

*lol* Your sentence made me smile. I guess I will simply buy one of their albums but I could not decide between Silencing Machine or one of the two black meddle ones. Had not found enough tranquility to make the decision. :D I am off to family over Christmas and my plan is to make time for listening to some of the bands on my list more thoroughly. I will let you know then. :)

Thanks for the reply. I will check the black meddle albums as soon as I have some time to get into it. Have not had enough tranquility within the last few days ...

I am just checking out Nachmystism. What is/are your favourite album and/or track(s)?

Since 2003! That is quite a while, too. Time is flying ... I need to check out the other bands you mentioned. I know Obituary, of course, like some of their stuff. I also like the female growls of Arch Enemy .. What was the record that brought you to Opeth? For me it was Still Life.

Ah, the special edition is a great choice. :) What do you mean when you say you like Mikael's Death Vocals more now? I have always loved them. I am a little bit biased because Opeth has been my favourite band for years. I love his clean voice as well as his growls. They have become better over the years and I hope he will do the death metal vocals on future records again although I love Heritage, too. I have listened to a few Bloodbath tracks, like his growls there but have never bought one of their albums. Mikael does great Death Metal vocals on Devin Townsend's "Stand", too. But you might know that. Which other "Growlers" do you like? My Dying Bride, Vintersorg, Amorphis - that's the type of growls I like apart from Opeth ...

Thanks for accepting. I am glad to read you like "Heritage". Not everyone who loves the old stuff likes the new stuff, too. For me all albums are 100% Opeth. They have this certain special sound which I just love. Do you have the edition with the Bonus tracks? Face in the snow is such a beauty: http://www.lastfm.de/music/Opeth/_/Face+in+the+Snow My faves on Heritage are, apart from that bonus track, "Nepenthe" and "The Lines in My Hand" but I love them all except of "Slither" ... Velvet Acid Christ: Sometimes I do listen to them, I own the album "Twisted Thought Generator" which is pretty cool. My favourite track: "Never Worship (Bruised Knees Mix)" It is nice to talk to you! :) Greetings to Canada!

I've never seen them before, I'm pretty stoked. Even more stoked for Marduk though!

I too would appreciate a slightly more metal set this time around, I hear ya. The first time I saw them (Progressive Nation 2008) they played a fair bit of heavier material... "Master's Apprentices", "Wreath", "Heir Apparent", "The Baying of the Hounds" to name a few!
