I know. It disappoints me. The person below is Ben. At the time he was kidding. He probably means it now.

I heard about that second year entry thing. I think there might be a few places for transferring into second year but you just have to be accepted into first year to go through. I don't really know if I'm in the right field though because I don't enjoy bio, chem or physiology that much... Do you enjoy working in a lab? I always wondered what that would be like. Do you get to do some pretty amazing experiments?

Debates are always good fun. I'm studying medicine at the moment but I'm really not too sure about what I want to do with my life. Unfortunately I can't help but think that the grass is always greener. I'm glad that NZ isn't like what my friend described. I've been twice before and it definitely wasn't the impression I got! All the people we ran into were very friendly. But gang wars! That's a lot more exciting than anything that's happened to my neighbourhood. So you like biochemistry and genetics? At the moment I'm doing a bit of chem and bio myself. I'm sure your course is more compelling than mine at the moment. You managed to work Philip Pullman's books into your course? Must say, I'm impressed (and a bit jealous).

So you're a fan of Pullman's "His Dark Materials" trilogy? I used to love those books when I was in school. Especially the last one. I can't remember the name of those antelope-like things that the English researcher comes across in a parallel world but they were wondrous! I'm at university at the moment - my first year. What about yourself? I used to think that New Zealanders were very even-tempered and placid but I have a guy from NZ in my course and he tells me that it is the opposite! The stories he tells me make it out be downright lawless and pretty hostile in parts. What does your experience tell you?

Narrow Stairs was the first Death Cab Cutie album that I heard so maybe I should listen to some of their earlier material... What's a back catalogue? There are quite a few good live shows here (even though Adelaide is overlooked by quite a few bands) but I don't really get to as many as I would like. I missed the Shins when they came too, which totally sucks because they were one of the first bands I liked. Is it still freezing over there or starting to warm up?

You know, the boy with the arab strap was the first album of theirs that I bought. At first I regretted getting it because everyone said it was their worst album (I'm quite impressionable). But now I quite like it - chickfactor, sleep the clock around and of course the title track are my favourites... I really like Narrow Stairs. I don't listen to Death Cab much these days but they're pretty good. I hope you have a good week :- ]

I saw you got a set list from the New Porno's show. Any chance you could share? It was such a great show, and they played such a full set I can't remember everything.

Return to the Sea is probably the better album. Whalebone is pretty perfect. I'm seeing them in San Francisco tomorrow! Soooo excited. As far as Wilco albums go, Yankee Hotel Foxtrot is excellent. I could listen to that for the rest of my life. My english teacher gave it to me like five years ago (weird huh?), and I still like it just as much. How's New Zealand?? Or was that a lie?
