So I feel like the biggest asshole
    What? Well fuck you, bitch.
She said she wanted some Marvin Gaye, some Luther Vandross
I cannot take this anymore, saying everything I said before

    I lift my string, I'm a guillotine
On this page, you see a little girl giggling at a hippotamus
I'd like to take this opportunity to thank everybody who's been riding with me so far

    Amy Moore blew her top
'81 was the year shit hit the fan in a major way
We're not the same dear as we used to be
And my words will be here when I'm gone

Let me wrap myself around you
Look look, gander gander, it's the young boy from the Lambda Lambdas
Maybe we... why don't we sit right here for half an hour?

Oh baby come close to me
I see the world from a tree
Sweet berries ready for two ghosts are no different than you

One more time just enough to ease my mind
We'll see Heaven from the sky
We come with the valuable things like sunshine and oxygen
  • Artists of the Week: Bloc Party and Lostprophets

    20 Nov 2007, 0:50

Well, last week I decided on listening to Bloc Party and Lostprophets. Aside from noticing these two have significantly different styles, I found the two of them good enough to stay in my library (whose song count is nearing 2500 songs... holy crap!)

    Bloc Party:

Another british band I stumbled across. I've heard of them before (thank you facebook and wikipedia), but haven't gotten around to listening to them, until last week.

They have a light and catchy feel about them as far as their style is concerned, with Banquet being the most prominent example. Helicopter was also a good example of their up-beatishness (and yeah, I just made up a word... got a problem?).

And just like Underoath, I noticed they have an outstanding slow song too, Kreuzberg from A Weekend In The City.

Credits go to Trunks, wherever he is, for piquing my interest in these guys.

I think the first time I've heard of these guys was when I played Need For Speed: Underground. I think it was their song "Ride" (better known as To Hell We Ride) that was in the game.

Anyways, after getting a hold of their music, I found myself liking their second album, Start Something with songs like Wake Up (Make a Move) and Burn Burn.

I heard that Lostprophets' latest album wasn't as good as their other two, so I didn't bother adding it to my library... ah, what the hell... I'll give their third album a listen when I have the time. Other than that, it's good to get a hold of something so familiar into my collection.

Well, this week I'll be checking out Incubus (so underrated) as well as Weezer. Until next week!
  • Artists of the Week: Underoath and Saosin

Just when the hell did Christian rock become cool?

Anyways, I took quite a liking to this band (with angstiness and worship in tow).

Some Will Seek Forgiveness, Others Escape was probably the only song that I noticed had the least amount of screaming.... that and I guess you could say it awoke my inner Christian.

And I noticed Smic Tague was the only instrumental I found from Underoath's album, They're Only Chasing Safety.... well that and it was a hidden track. Nice.

My favorite song from these guys is a three-way tie between I'm Content With Losing, Writing On The Walls, and Down, Set, Go.

Overall, Underoath's really good, regardless of what the most metal of metal fans will say.... because I know most of the hate comes from those guys.

    Yay screamo? Hell yes.

I managed to start listening to these guys by the end of the week. Whew. Seven Years from their .Translating the Name EP became an instant favorite when I heard it from a certain Phil. Other than that I also liked 3rd Measurement in C and It's So Simple. I'm hoping they release a new album next year because I'm looking forward to it This Week: Bloc Party and Lostprophets

    Next week: Incubus
  • Artists of the Week... catching up

    6 Nov 2007, 17:27

For the last three weeks, I've been doing a little project of sorts. I've been listening to bands that I've been hearing of to see what the hype was about them. If I like them, I'll keep them in my library, otherwise, I have no regrets for listening to them. It's all a process to broaden my tastes in music and if I have to take a risk, why not?

Radiohead: What's not to like about Radiohead? They're one of those bands who decides to change styles with each album. I found Paranoid Android and Idioteque to be their flagship songs that prove to me how varying their style is. And with the recent release of their new album, In Rainbows, I've grown to like them even more. Hell, I'll even say their new album is probably their best work.

Red Hot Chili Peppers: Good to listen to when you're feeling lazy, high on something, or if you're in that dazed state. Some of their songs are good for going to sleep. Of their songs, I like The Zephyr Song and By the Way the most.

The Fall of Troy: The first band I've listened to. F.C.P.R.E.M.I.X. from their Doppelganger album is addictive.
