In the Beginning There Was Rhythm

Nice title, huh? Too bad I stole it (and the idea for the rest of this journal) from the gang at Soul Jazz records, who four years ago put out a compil with the same name.

So here's the simple plan:
  • Find an interesting compilation with a cool title (I found this one looking for The Slits in the university library's online catalog, and I am definitely going downtown to borrow this disc when I'm done here).
  • Spend some face time with your PC and last browsing to each of the song pages corresponding to the anthology's tracks.
  • Tag each of those tracks with the name of the anthology (helps if it's a catchy name like ).
  • Add a couple of extra bonus tracks just to get up to that magic 15 that engages the clutch here on
  • Write up a nifty journal entry that lists the songs so your subscriber pals can enjoy themselves thoroughly.

These tracks come from the compilation (of course, as always happens on last, the compilation’s actual cuts may be rarer or lengthier versions of the same songs):
These tracks I added to bulk it up to 15:
Leave a comment and let me know what you think!

edit: goes straight to the tag page with the radio link.

And have come to the firm commitment that I should drink some coffee first, prior to tackling such an assignment, as we have here. ydebru.

According to IanAR, who is no slouch on the post-punk scene (and whom I thank explicitly for recommending me to listen to The Slits and starting me off on a whole 24 hours of musical excitement,
Über doyen of post-punk is like jefferyn, m'K(?)
Which means, I guess, that if you need a fix of more of the same, go to jefferyn's personal radio.

That tag is a good ideia, someday I'll do that too. Those songs sound good but they are not the kind of music I chose to listen. I really liked that one from Liquid Liquid, very good.

I used to hang out with one of the guys from LL, actually, but I never knew their music. It had all gone out of print. Pretty exciting from the little I've heard, yes.

No, I am merely a viscount of tags; IanAR is the king of track-tagging. I remember deciding about the time that I joined the BEREP group that since my tags show up on my page for all to see I should come up with some more interesting ones than just . Did you listen to yet?
