1. The Ultrasonics - Ultrasound
A little-known group from Britain, I discovered them by fluke on Myspace and have the album on repeat ever since. The Ultrasonics' music is very very , with similarities to Lady Gaga, La Roux and Little Boots. The album is full of fun, upbeat eighties-style pop tunes.
Best of the bunch: Go Electro and Perfect Girl.

2. Lady Gaga - The Fame Monster
A stunning follow up album to The Fame and I would say even stronger than her first. The Fame Monster builds on the stylistic sound and steps it up a notch, with some unmissable tunes like Dancing in the Dark and Telephone, and her best single to date Bad Romance. Modern pop at its best.

3. La Roux - La Roux
Debut self-titled album from the British singer (well actually a band but fronted by singer Ellie). There's a strong early-eighties influence through out, with definite vibes of Yazoo and the like. Highlights include the stunning Bulletproof and Cover My Eyes.

4. Frankmusik - Complete Me
Totally underated singer from England, whose album Complete Me is one of my favorites of the year. The album is co-produced by Stuart Price who has worked with Madonna amongst others, so it's no surprise there are some excellent synth-driven pop tunes on here, my favorites being Better Off As 2 and Vacant Heart.

5. Annie - Don't Stop
An album many never though would see the day, and finally saw a release at the end of 2009. Don't Stop is the follow up to the Norwegian singers first album Anniemal, and is a collection of twelve perfect-pop tunes. The best of the bunch: the Moroder-style Songs Remind Me of You.
