Dude I think i might have mentioned YLT--I got into them huge over the past three years, and just saw them for the second time at cat's cradle. They're unlike anything else and a bottled up record doesn't even do them justice...but my faves are I can hear the heart, may I sing with me and president yo la tengo/new wave hotdogs--although they did a split show--acoustic/electric and the new stuff was really awesome too

Yea, I haven't been scrobbling for a while...I've kinda delved into jazz. I'm thinking i should give miles davis a go next?

nice man, around a year ago, they were all i listened to on my ipod; none of those plays scrobbled, but Jason Lytle is really creative and there is something about his voice I like. On my last trip to schoolkids, I saw the software slump cd in the used section and snatched it right up.

so I see you finally got into grandaddy--they're absolutely awesome; also parallax is really good; cohesive and catchy. I like.

"Here’s how The A.V. Club comes up with our yearly list of the Top 25 albums: We collectively try to decide what the mythical “hipsters” want us to put on the list, then vote accordingly. Wait, no, that’s not what we do at all." haha --> garden tools...

hey, you should check out SYR9---it's a perfect album by my standards...winamp accompanies it perfectly with a visualizer as a great cinema substitute

hey, i haven't heard the destroyer album yet, but do like his stuff. He's coming to Cat's cradle with the war on drugs later this spring, and I'd definitely like to be there.

This might be too large of an undertaking; I'm looking at about 65 albums for 2010 and using a quantitative rating system, providing a standout track or two and explaining a tiny bit. i couldn't leave out the new neil young or clapton and the rest of what was released in 2010

well, I went through the new atlas sound; frankly, i'm a bit overwhelmed at the sheer volume of music. I'll have to go back and take an album at a time to figure out what I really like, though i liked all that i heard.

do you know when in hell they're going to figure out a schedule? Atlas Sound better not be in an over 21 venue--that might be enough for me to ask for a ticket refund

I really liked it but don't have terribly specific comments about it at the moment. It was something I put on in the background of a dinner conversation last night; and it accompanied the conversation oddly well--it seemed that every soaring crescendo of noise coincided with the rather intense parts of conversation, namely the meaning of freedom with regards to reality.

I do have some recommendations; Deerhunter is the hardest act to top though-all that I will recommend have been a close second of sorts, but anyways: ~Deerhunter's Wierd Era Cont.--It came out concurrently with Microcastle and is sort of in between Cryptograms and Microcastle in terms of sound. Calvary Scars II/Aux. Out is incredible imo ~Lotus Plaza's The Floodlight Collective--It's Lockett's solo album, and very much on par with everything deerhunter has done--get it in *.flac if you can ~The Radio Dept.'s Pet Grief and Lesser Matters, both are awesome semi-experimental, ambient-tinged shoegaze ~The Pains of Being Pure at Heart S/T is also some good shoegaze ~Airiel-grab the free downloads on also ~The Most Serene Republic; they're experimental akin to BSS, but possibly better? and ~Mooncake's Lagrange Points; this is the best post-rock i've heard all year I would have recommended No Age as well....But i'll just wait to see them headline hopscotch in sept.
