    1. How did you get into 29? (Jurassic 5)
An old school friend used to play Power In Numbers constantly, and I liked them immediately

    2. What's the first song you ever heard by 22? (Wu-Tang Clan)
Gravel Pit. Was constantly on the radio (albeit a watered-down version)

    3. What's your favorite lyric by 33? (Jimmy Carr)
Well he's a stand-up comedian, so I'll put his best line instead: "Jesus died for your sins. Cunt."

    4. How did you get into 49? (Blu & Exile)
Funnily enough, it was this site. A lot of people on my friends list had Blu & Exile in their charts. I was curious as to who they were, and was told that it was a damn near essential album.

    5. How many albums by 13 do you own? (J Dilla)
Ruff Draft, The Shining, Donuts and Jay $tay Paid (which I hated) and Fan-Tas-Tic Vol. 1 in his Slum Village days.

    6. What is your favorite song by 50? (Ugly Duckling)
I only own Bang For The Buck, and my favourite track off that album is The End Of Time.

    7. Is there a song by 39 that makes you sad? (King Geedorah)
    Erm, not really.

    8. What is your favorite song by 15? (Gang Starr)
There's quite a few. Off the top of my head, Soliloquy Of Chaos, Check The Technique and Mass Appeal.

    9. What is your favorite song by 5? (MF DOOM)
    Red and Gold or Doomsday

    10. Is there a song by 6 that makes you happy? (A Tribe Called Quest)
Had this exact same question in my other journal, so I'll be boring and give the exact same answer: Electric Relaxation, as perfect a hip-hop track as you could wish for.

    11. What is the worst song by 40? (Radiohead)
Haven't heard a bad track by them yet.

    12. What is your favorite song by 10? (Pete Rock & C.L. Smooth)
You probably already know the answer to this, but I also really love Carmel City and In The Flesh.

    13. What is a good memory you have involving 30? (Shape Of Broad Minds)
Hearing Craft Of The Lost Art for the first time, and being blown away by it.

    14. What is your favorite song by 38? (Talib Kweli)
Solo, probably Get By or The Proud. With Reflection Eternal, Expansion Outro

    15. Is there a song by 19 that makes you happy? (Y Society)
Good Communication. Sounds like an old-school track.

    16. Is there a song by 25 that makes you sad? (Viktor Vaughn)
See question 7. I don't think DOOM's tracks are meant to make you feel sad. Bemused, yes, but not sad.

    17. What is the first song you ever heard by 23? (Little Brother)
    The Yo-Yo

    18. What's your favorite lyric by 11? (Nas)
There are quite a few, but I'll go with: "And I'm amped up, they locked the champ up, even my brain's in handcuffs."

    19. Who is a favorite member of 1? (Atmosphere)
    Can't really say. Slug's a great rapper, and Ant's a gifted producer.

    20. Is there a song by 14 that makes you happy? (One Be Lo)
Enecs Eht No Kcab, brilliant is the only word to describe it.

    21. What is a good memory involving 27? (InI)
Playing the album at a party recently, and converting a few people into hip-hop fans.

    22. What is your favorite song by 16? (Madvillain)
I'd have to go for Fancy Clown.

    23. What is the first song you ever heard by 47? (Deltron 3030)
Positive Contact. It was on one of the Tony Hawk games.

    24. What is your favourite album by 18? (The Pharcyde)
I think Bizarre Ride just shades Labcab.

Under his current persona, either Gazzillion Ear or Supervillainz (feat. Slug)

Rebirth Of Slick, which was on a hip-hop compilation a friend used to own

Most people say Like Water For Chocolate or Resurrection, but my favourite album is One Day It'll All Make Sense, so underrated.

    28. What is you favorite song by 2? (CunninLynguists)
Seasons (feat. Masta Ace) Great track charting the rise and fall of hip-hop, with a killer beat from RJD2

    29. What was the first song you ever heard by 32? (Binary Star)

    30. What is your favorite song by 8? (Blackalicious)

I haven't yet. They were in the UK last year, but I wasn't :(

MHB's. I love that Kool and the Gang sample

    33. How did you get into 12? (CYNE)
Again, thanks to this site. They were appearing as "similar artists" on a lot of stuff I like, so I thought I'd check them out.

    34. What is the worst song by 45? (Black Sheep)
You stumped me, A Wolf In Sheep's Clothing is almost flawless in my opinion

    35. What was the first song you ever heard by 34? (DANGERDOOM)
Old School (feat. Talib Kweli). Incredibly, I heard this on Radio 1, a station that wouldn't know good hip-hop if it slapped them in the face!

    36. What was the first song you ever heard by 48? (Gorillaz)
    Clint Eastwood, like everyone else

    37. How many times have you seen 42 live? (Organized Konfusion)

    38. What is your favourite song by 36? (Slum Village)
    The Look Of Love

    39. What was the first song you ever heard by 28? (OutKast)

    40. What is your favorite album by 7? (Mos Def)
Had this exact same question in my other journal. Black On Both Sides.

Either Let Me Watch or G.M.C.

The Coolest, which is the most played song on my iPod.

Stakes Is High, as it's my favourite hip-hop track ever

I love all their albums, but Things Fall Apart is my favourite.

    48. Who is your favorite member of 37? (Eminem)
Well he's a one-man show, but I don't even like him at the moment (everything post-The Eminem Show has been a bit poor)

    49. What is the first song you ever heard by 43? (Cannibal Ox)
The F-Word, on another user's radio station. It was enough to persuade me to buy The Cold Vein, which is my favourite album at the moment

    Dead Presidents II
  • 50 Questions & 50 Artists

1.How did you get into 29? (DANGERDOOM)
Word of mouth really, it was at a time when I was really getting into hip-hop and wanted something more than the garbage on the TV/radio. Been hooked on anything by Daniel Dumile ever since.

    2. What's the first song you ever heard by 22? (Madvillain)
Damn, another DOOM-related question xD. I think it was Accordion, saw a music video on YouTube which persuaded me to buy Madvilainy.

    3. What's your favorite lyric by 33? (Raekwon)
Some of his lyrics on 36 Chambers were pretty good, in particular "call me the rap assassinator, rhymes rugged and built like Schwarzenegger". OK, doesn't exactly rhyme, but Rae and the rest of the Clan put themselves firmly on the map.

    4. How did you get into 49? (MF DOOM)
OK, this is getting ridiculous now!! See the answer of Question 1.

    5. How many albums by 13 do you own? (J Dilla)
Including his Slum Village work, 5 (Fan-Tas-Tic Vol. 1, Donuts, Ruff Draft, The Shining and Jay $tay Paid)

    6. What is your favorite song by 50? (Slum Village)
None, 50 Cent sucks!!! lol joking, has to be The Look Of Love.

    7. Is there a song by 39 that makes you sad? (Black Star)
Twice Inna Lifetime, merely for the fact that the album ends after that

    8. What is your favorite song by 15? (Eminem)
    Infinite, Shady at his best

    9. What is your favorite song by 5? (CunninLynguists)
Either The Gates or Love Ain't (both featuring Tonedeff) but there's tons of great CL tracks! Lynguistics, Fuckinwichu, Mic Like A Memory, Falling Down, I could go on for ages...

    10. Is there a song by 6 that makes you happy? (A Tribe Called Quest)
Electric Relaxation, as perfect a hip-hop track as you could wish for

    11. What is the worst song by 40? (Sage Francis)
My Name Is Strange or Jah Didn't Kill Johnny

    12. What is your favorite song by 10? (De La Soul)
Stakes Is High, my favourite song full stop.

    13. What is a good memory you have involving 30? (Fall Out Boy)
OK, OK, I had a bit of a Fall Out Boy phase a couple of years ago (get the criticism out of your systems), probably their involvement on The Roots "Birthday Girl"

    14. What is your favorite song by 38? (The Pharcyde)
God, there's so many. I'd have to say Hey You.

    15. Is there a song by 19 that makes you happy? (Little Brother)
The Getup, a great party tune

    16. Is there a song by 25 that makes you sad? (Arctic Monkeys)
505, but at the same time a fantastic song

    17. What is the first song you ever heard by 23? (Snoop Dogg)
Who Am I? (What's My Name?)

    18. What's your favorite lyric by 11? (Bill Hicks)
Well he was a stand-up comedian, so I suppose it should be best line. So here goes: "People suck, there's too many of 'em, and they're easier to kill when they're fetuses than when they're grown up".

    19. Who is a favorite member of 1? (The Roots)
    Black Thought

    20. Is there a song by 14 that makes you happy? (Ghostface)
Daytona 500, purely for the music video. The song ain't bad either

    21. What is a good memory involving 27? (Jimmy Carr)
Again, another stand-up comedian. Probably seeing him live and seeing him rip the piss out of my mate.

    22. What is your favorite song by 16? (Atmosphere)
    Flesh, those drums are infectious

    23. What is the first song you ever heard by 47? (Muse)
New Born. I was an instant fan from that moment

    24. What is your favourite album by 18? (Mos Def)
Black On Both Sides. Need I say more?

    25. What is your favorite song by 21? (Bill Bailey)
Yet another stand-up comedian, but this guy actually makes humorous songs too. I'd have to say Love Song.

Hypnotize (I was a latecomer to Biggie)

    27. What is your favorite album by 3? (Nas)

    Triumph. Best. Posse Cut. Ever.

    29. What was the first song you ever heard by 32? (GZA/Genius)
    Duel Of The Iron Mic

    30. What is you favorite song by 8? (Lupe Fiasco)
Probably The Coolest, but again, Lupe's had so many great songs

    31. How many times have you seen 17 live? (Gang Starr)
None, and is unlikely to ever happen :(

    32. Is there a song by 44 that makes you happy? (Gorillaz)
Feel Good Inc. Does what it says on the tin

    33. How did you get into 12? (Kanye West)
Like everyone else, when College Dropout was released. I think I wore that CD out

    34. What is the worst song by 45? (Hard-Fi)
Hard To Beat got very irritating very quickly, mainly due to being on the radio ALL THE TIME!

    35. What was the first song you ever heard by 34? (Blackalicious)
It's Going Down, hooked ever since

    36. What was the first song you ever heard by 48? (N*E*R*D)

Solo, Breathe and Stop. With the Tribe, Can I Kick It?

Power In Numbers, followed by the J5 EP (although I don't think that counts as an album)

    41. Is there a song by 31 that makes you happy? (Pharoahe Monch)
Push, just an incredibly uplifting song

    42. What is your favorite album by 41? (2Pac)
All Eyez On Me (to quote Leslie Nielsen in a very shitty movie, "this shit is bangin'!")

Put Your Hands Where My Eyes Could See

    44. What is a good memory you have involving 46? (N.W.A.)
When I first heard Straight Outta Compton, that album got me into rap in the first place.

    45. What is your favorite song by 35? (Mobb Deep)
Tough one, the entire Infamous album is almost flawless. I'd have to go with Temperature's Rising.

    46. Is there a song by 9 that makes you happy? (Common)
Come Close. Really nice, uplifting song.

    47. What is your favorite album by 4? (Jay-Z)

You'll never guess.......... Talib Kweli!! Didn't see that coming did you?

    49. What is the first song you ever heard by 43? (DMX)
X Gon Give It To Ya. Looking back, it's a pretty poor song. But I was young and naive.

Call of da Wild or ATLiens
