This is a terribly late reply, but you like Frank! Huzzah. Are you going to be back in Scotland ever?

I'm all about the trip-hop. Well actually, I've only ever listened to Portishead before but Mezzanine's supposed to be an essential listen for any music fan. And it's chill as fuck. As fuck.

The first few times I listened to it I just thought "What the hell is going on?". Thankfully it grew on me so much I'm seeing them in October no ^_^. Lyrical-wise they make little sense, check out the lyrics to "Psychic Jugglers" and see if you can make any sense of what is going on most of the time :P

DT seem to use lyrics as an excuse to not make instrumental albums - on the album they've just released they included an instrumental disc along with the album proper. They've turned out a couple of good songs lyrical wise but it's not their strong point. And I'm loling at your Bono comparison as I've never looked at it in that way and it's actually quite true. Next time I go to see them I'm so taking a sign asking him to wear some sunglesses and adopt an Irish accent :P

:P Well, in that case...... good Dream Theater Albums would be "Images and Words", "Metropolis Pt2", and "Octavarium". With regards to other Prog albums, the albums "Snow" and "V" by Spock's Beard are also good, as are "Damnation" by Opeth, "Paradise Lost" by Symphony X ,and any albums by Ayreon. Additionally, the album "In a Flesh Aquarium" by Unexpect is an incredibly unique and advent-garde album, very much an aquired taste but excellent if you can get into it.

Sure thing :) I would recommend these as a good starter. "City of Evil" by Avenged Sevenfold, "Threads of Life" by Shadows Fall, "Scream Aim Fire" by Bullet for My Valentine and "Suspended Animation" by John Petrucci. You'll notice I'm staying away from my Prog infulences (although it is tempting) but if you want amything more.... advent-gardish then lemme know :)
