I'm playing a lot of 80s music this week.
My high school 20th reunion is coming up in October, and I've volunteered to throw together the playlist for Friday night's festivities. (I'm assuming a band will be playing on Saturday).
I graduated in '88.
And, boy, was there a buttload of crap on the radio that year.
Here's my tentative track listing. My approach has been to embrace the cheese, only temper it with the music the various cliques would have listened to.

Man, I wish they had asked me to do ours! I graduated in '88 too and had my 20th earlier this month. If there is one complaint I have, it was the music. They had a young dude who played nothing but old crappy rap and current stuff by the likes of Kid Rock when we were on the dance floor. And uninspired stuff like "Jack & Diane". It was pitiful. When the night was over, I wanted to cry. I love your inclusion of "Face Dances, Part II", but I know it would have gotten a lot of strange looks from my graduating class.

hah. After talking it over with a few fellow classmates, I'm tweaking the playlist significantly. The new one will be posted. More rock 'n roll stuff to be added (Iron Maiden, Eddie Money)

"It's Tricky" Run-DMC, Public Enemy, LL Cool J, "Sweet Child O' Mine" Guns, "Genius of Love" Tom Tom Club, "Silent Lucidity" Queensryche, "Nothing Gonna Stop Us Now" Starship, some classic Crue and I must ask the 80s and no Michael?
