The Australian Pink Floyd Show at Bospop Festival, Weert, July 13th 2009

Sat 11 Jul – Bospop 2009

The Bospop is a small festival held in Weert in the south of The Netherlands and lasts two days. We attended the second day and were joined by Jeff Beck, Chickenfoot, Paul Carrack, Beth Hart and The Australian Pink Floyd Show.

The weather was typical festival like, a lot of rain and after that a bit of sun. Not bad at all.

Some other stuf I've seen: Triggerfinger from Belgium, great band, playing a bit White Stripes like and with a lot of passion. Beth Hart, beautiful voice and a good show. Jeff Beck, annoying old man, played only instrumentals and did not have any reaction from the crowd. But Tai was there…

TAPFS, held the closing slot for 90 minutes.

Decent show, as you can see from the setlist it was a typical crowd pleasing set. Sound was good. Lighting was not that good. The spotlight operators weren't really paying attention to who was singing or playing a solo. (Reminds me of a 1977 Pink Floyd concert..). The sound effects weren't coming in on time during the first songs. But that got better in the end.

The crowd was very mild, absolutely no singing along during Brick 2. That got better during Shine and WYWH.

During Run Like Hell the bass player brought his boots, leather coat and sunglasses.

So, for me it was a great show but I felt that this band isn't the best choice as a headliner for such a festival. It is a quiet show if you compare it to let's say Chickenfoot. A lot of people got bored 'cause it doesn't "rock" all the time. Even though they played a lot of crowd pleasers.
