Tonight has been incredible. Our speaker, Dave, gave a fantastic talk on God's love from Ephesians – especially Paul's prayer in 3:14-19 – and it was just amazing the tangible presence of God was all over the room, and I don't think anyone who was here tonight can ever again doubt that God's Holy Spirit comes in power in our world.
"I pray that you, being rooted and established in love, may have power, together with all the saints, to fully know how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, and to know this love that surpasses understanding – and that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God." (v17-19)
There are still people here praying and resting in the love of God as I write this – after a really long time of praising God I wonder when God will take a break for the night! …just kidding. God is good people. I just pray now desperately because I know people (one person in particular who has become very close to me recently) who might really have benefitted from hearing the words that were said tonight (and last night as well, when Dave said one thing that really stuck with me, about how the forgiveness we have through Christ not only restores us to righteousness but also breaks the hold of that sin on our lives), and from the wonderful work that God has done in us this weekend. I pray that I can come to a fuller knowledge of God's love through this, and can show that love to those people, and all those around me.
In Jesus Christ’s glorious name,
Stephen
(p.s. some of the songs we sang out passionately in worship of our amazing God tonight:
Chris Tomlin – Indescribable
Graham Kendrick – All I Once Held Dear (Knowing You)
Paul Baloche – Open the Eyes of My Heart
Rich Mullins – Our God is an Awesome God (well, the chorus at least… but it's a good chorus)
Matt Redman – I Will Offer Up My Life
…and many more sweet worshipful tuneeees)
