• Sold Out show at Rio Theatre

Wed 10 Mar – Joe Bonamassa

All I can say is this guy's good. He can play any genre you throw at him, but he prefers to stick to blues-rock. I'm very glad I had the opportunity to see him perform in Santa Cruz- he made a believer out of me!

Standout number was an acoustic solo that was done lightning fast. Anybody who plays guitar knows how hard it is to thrash on an acoustic guitar but he did it better than any metal guitarist.
  • Another Successful Strike Anywhere Show

Tue 20 Oct – Strike Anywhere, Crime in Stereo, Polar Bear Club, Ruiner

The first Bridge 9 tour was a success in its stop at San Francisco. I've seen Strike Anywhere a bunch of times back in the Washington, DC area- some of the earliest ones before the band put out their first LP. Every time I see them, I get inspired. Thomas commands the stage with such a positive energy, giving all the audience members in arm's reach a chance to belt out the lyrics on his microphone. I know that's standard for a punk/hardcore show, but Thomas manages his performances particularly well.

Still waiting for this band to perform an encore. The last few times I've seen them, they've opted out of an encore, even though the audience wanted one.

On a side note, the San Francisco scene seems pretty cool. A positive group of kids out to have a good time. I did notice a lot of kids wearing plaid button-up shirts- this was a new fashion trend I didn't know about. The lumberjack look is in!

Anyway, props to this show. Great to see Crime in Stereo and Ruiner live again, and a nice introduction to Polar Bear Club.
