What do you think of Xenakis's work for piano? Or Morton Feldman's?

Since I'm not a professional piano player I've got far too less time for practicing. :( I LOVE Schumann Phantasie in C Major, but only played 3rd movement. At the moment I'm studying Mendelssohn, some songs without words, some Mozart sonatas (K 280 and 281) and, of course, chamber music! A friend of mine wanted to play Strauss violin sonata, haha, very difficult piano part, gosh, he really could have chosen another piece... ;-)

I agree with Argerich's free tempi making seasick. I love her debut recording at Deutsche Grammophon, though, she was so young and a really fascinating woman. In my opinion, she now plays exactly the same, pity, I would have expected a great development from her... My favorite Bach interpreter at the moment is Murray Perahia. Look! You HAVE to listen to this recording!! Great sound, too! Do you agree? He recorded in Berlin's famous Funkhaus. I've heard Richter's very personal Bach interpretations which are very good. When I was 20, Glenn Gould was my great darling. ^^ But today not any more. Thanks for being friends! Regards

Hi, sorry for the late reply, I've been on holiday. Yes, Sokolov is a great Prokoviev interpreter. I don't like him playing everything, though. E.g. his interpretation of Chopin Préludes is none of my favorites. A bit too free in tempo and expression to me, but of course still very good, no question. (But I have to shut my mouth, I'm not a professional pianist like you! :)) You like Marc-André Hamelin, too? What do you think of him? Regards!

Conóceme

Piano Lecturer at a music college near Tokyo. Like all kinds of music but tend to listen to piano based tracks. Favourite music is mainly Prokofiev, Etude Op.2 No.1 and 3, Piano Sonata No.7 but love all Russian music. Rachmaninov Prelude Op.23 No.4 breaks my heart every time I hear it. Maybe that's why so many of my students play it! Listen to jazz and soul when I eat dinner and have a nostalgic love for progressive rock. Regards from Tokyo.
