Hello my friend! Are you still around? I've started finally to catch up with all the missed releases for the past 3 or so years... now catching up with 2021. Do you have some kind of Top 2021 somewhere i could take a look at? that would be great. Could use some suggestions! :D

Wow hello!! where have you been?? I am so glad to hear from you! Honestly my listening time has diminished a lot due to work and stress, but I am still trying to keep up as best I can. I posted my favourites of 2020 and 2021 on the metal-archives threads. LOTS of good stuff for you to check out! 2020: https://forum.metal-archives.com/viewtopic.php?p=2950372#p2950372 2021: https://forum.metal-archives.com/viewtopic.php?p=3016907#p3016907

Ah, glad you’re still around too! ☺️ I didn’t scrobble any music for about 2 years, because my old computer died and I didn’t manage to get around to installing the proper stuff for a while haha. I was still checking out Last.fm regularly though. Was out of the loop with new releases for a few years, now trying to catch up! I’m on vacation atm though, so again no time for music right now 😅Thanks for the links, will surely check them out when I come back! Btw, I saw you on metalarea.ru and added you to friends there, hopefully you don’t mind 😜

Hey! Thanks for posting your list! I was about to ask you haha :) Again, surprised at seeing the Summoning release so high up on your list! :O it was most unimpressive to me, and very much disappointing, and won't make it anywhere near Top 20 even... But I don't think i will be making a top at all this year: way too many releases, and not enough time to listen to them properly to decide which one is better. I think the release that impressed me the most was Shylmagoghnar, so it probably deserves my AotY title the most. I will come back to you with an unsorted "honorable mentions" list later when i have more time, that's all i can come up with this time i'm afraid.

now I look forward to it! I liked the Shylmagoghnar a lot but it didn't get near my top 10. I loved the Summoning album, but even a comparatively average album by them beats out 99% of other material. I hold them in a different level of esteem. I think maybe the album will grow on you as it didn't have the same immediate impact as others, but all the same ingredients are there. Needless to say, the best thing I discovered in 2018 was not any of those, it was the latest album by Odroerir.

Quite a few similarities here, as expected :) Here's my final list: 1. Duskmourn - Of Shadow and Flame 2. Sun of the Sleepless - To the Elements 3. Vapor Hiemis - Miortvaja Halava 4. White Ward - Futility Report 5. Au Champ Des Morts - Dans la Joie 6. Nargaroth - Era of Threnody 7. The Ruins of Beverast - Exuvia 8. Emyn Muil - Elenion Ancalima 9. Auðn - Farvegir Fyrndar 10. Progenie Terrestre Pura - oltreLuna [the positions are rather symbolic, because they tend to change according to the mood]. Honorable mentions (a.k.a. Top 20): Wolves in the Throne Room - Thrice Woven, Myrkur - Mareridt, Evilfeast - Elegies of the Stellar Wind, Der Weg Einer Freiheit - Finisterre, Maglor - Asunder, Raventale - Planetarium, Nishaiar - Universum, Rûr - Rûr (EP), Zgard - Within the Swirl of Black Vigor, Carach Angren - Dance and Laugh amongst the Rotten.

Yeah, last.fm, I believe, is one of very few places where I can talk to with people who have taste similiar to mine. I see you listen to Thrawsunblat , I discovered them by recommendation couple of days ago and I kind of fell in love. So similar to Woods of Ypres' music which I love ;).

Answered. And yeah, the new site is dumb. I still haven't forgiven them for the absence of groups and I don't know if I ever will due to the fact that it's highly unlikely they'll ever recover. I'd follow back but there doesn't seem to be much point following anyone since the "friends who listen" and other features are absent.

Ah, I see, indeed I was missing the point. I'm not sure if it's possible or to what degree to value Foucault as an historian without judging in the same act the way he 'conceives history', but I see what you mean and agree, not in vain MF's reception of previous french historiography and impact on historiography as a whole is an interesting discussion by itself. The criticism may be indeed ideological, however I find more interesting that sometimes it's aware of this danger, thus ends up being a repetition or even representation of the original problem, rather ironic ;)

Since what you said could be understood in many ways I'm not sure I got the right one, so this may come as irrelevant, but in my case is just the contrary, as in the problematic of whether the method actually makes it possible to construct let's say a 'non ideological' (?) history kind of draws me from MF, and this roots in part from the use of sources or how MF understands what a source is. However since he was not oblivious to this, I find him to be an admirable intellectual, as well. Also as this, I think, may be easily labeled as one of the main problems of contemporary philosophy; is hardly only an 'issue' with MF. Since I'm already fearful of having digressed or just plainly erred too much, I'll take one step further on my daring and wish you a happy new year. Greets :)

I remember clearly when I started reading "Vigilar y castigar" (;D) and came upon those fragments you cited there. I experienced a sinister amazement. Later, soon, a professor theatrically read the same aloud, causing quite an impact. I've always found repulsive in a way -although brilliant- the way Foucault constructs this 'rationale' around such a violent incident. It's been a while since then and as I recalled that impact reading your profile, that and that I've found some interesting bands stalking round' here, it kind of made me want to ramble a little bit :) Greets!

I was asking since I've found in his narrative something similar to Céline's core. So if you look for a quality novel one day, you know where to have a look.
