I recognized your avatar in a shout box or side bar or something and thought, "I've seen that image before," and then I remembered it was from SA. I'm in a few related groups. What exactly is your avatar anyway?

si te gusta soul coughing, podrías escuchar a "como asesinar a felipes". su música es hip-hop, con jazz y muchos samplers. me recuerda mucho a sc.

One question though, how have you listened to so much of the Conet Project? Is it merely background atmosphere or is it the same thing that pulls you towards Boards of Canada?

You have great taste, whenever I'm browsing through my artists or ones I'm interested in you are consistently among the top played - or the only listener.

Also you'll probably like this which is more of a recommendation going off your charts now, and less about Soul Coughing.

Did you find any bands that are similar to Soul Coughing? I saw your request in the SC shout box. IT's difficult to find similar acts considering how eclectic style is, the upright bass, and Mike's almost lounge-lizard-ish vocals. I would loosely recommend bands that have similar *segments* of Soul Coughing and the vibe they produce though: Morphine, Boss Hog, Brianiac (that ones a total stretch, and it's faster and more chaotic than SC, but you might appreciate the quirkiness anyway). You might appreciate Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds too, perhaps: Red Right Hand. You might also consider digging into Mike Patton's extensive experimental bands: Lovage, Mr Bungle, Fantamos, Tomahawk, and Peeping Tom.

You can get early BoC material with Random 35 Tracks Tape, Acid Memories, Hooper Bay and Play by Numbers. R35TT has quite a bit of material on it, a lot of which you will probably be familiar with. The other three are all less than a minute worth of authentic material but apart from their studio discography there is nothing else. You can find it all here

You're very welcome. Yes, Dengue Fever's music is unique. Prerevolutionary Iranian Pop is something I would be interested finding more about and I'm grateful to you for this recommendation. The story of music there might be equally engrossing.

Conóceme

I have a varied taste in music. It's not vague or wandering, I just happen to genuinely enjoy genres that are polar opposites. What I'm listening to usually depends on my mood.

Music works better than coffee to wake me up in the morning.
