Yes, it's a perfectly competent and balanced, if somewhat unambitious, distillation of lackadaisical psychedelic surf pop. The album has frequent moments of beauty, but it's apparent the band is being praised mostly for their promise rather than deliverance. I did rush out to buy it because I thought "Suburban Dogs" was one of the best songs I've heard this year, and I am quite pleased, if not overwhelmed, with the results. But the album is steadily growing on me with additional spins.
