Vollenweider does use some cheesy synth, it's true. I'll be sure to check out Yasunori Mitsuda, thanks for the recommendation! Loreena McKennitt is wonderful, but I really haven't listened to much of her stuff; Mystic's Dream and Bells of Christmas I've played over and over, but I should really get round to checking out her full albums. Cécile Corbel's new to me, so I'll check her music out too. What did you think of the Yo Yo Ma album?

The cover of Behind the Gardens is indeed laughable; that wink gets me every time! What video game soundtracks are similar to Vollenweider if you don't mind me asking? I've never actively looked for similar stuff to Vollenweider, so I can't help too much! I imagine you're looking for something which has harp/main string instrument coupled with an eclectic mix of world instruments? The closest recommendation I can give you is the cellist Yo Yo Ma's "Silk Road Journeys: Beyond The Horizon", which focuses on a instrumental journey along the ancient silk road. It's sublime, just like Vollenweider. I have a few favourite harpists as well, be sure to check out Cecilia Chailly's "Alone" and Celia Briar's "Dark Rose".

You get flack for listening to Vollenweider?! Man, that sucks. He can push the silliness boundary at times, but his talent is flawless , definitely one of the world's greatest harpists.

Yes I'll sure be doing the same w/ you're charts! Thanks for the recommends thus far. Without getting carried away, I'll give you just a little guidance regarding my top 3 artists.... MANUAL is ambient and dream pop. for ambient, start with: for dream pop... AKINO ARAI.... enough said ;) HAMMOCK is ambient post-rock... so hard to pick a track... so just off their newest album: Cheers!

Haa, I knew you secretly like Danny Elfman. Hey, I wanted to try out some new (to me) bands today, especially after doing my speech on visual kei, so I listened to an ayabie song, and actually liked it :) Do you have anything of theirs?
