He's fantastic, 'Scott 4' is my favorite. And I absolutely love Talk Talk - sounds cliche but they're like no one else I've heard. I've really only listened to their last two albums (both of which are outstanding and I can't pick a favorite), but I've meaning to check out 'Colour of Spring'. And I've heard that Mark Hollis' solo stuff is great but I haven't gotten around to that either. So much to listen to listen to, I wish I had more time to give it all the attention it deserves

Great, I'll check out all of 'em! You ever listen to Scott Walker?

Never listened to John Martyn, you recommend? I need to listen to more Cocteau Twins and Dead Can Dance too

yep its sounding very good (Lust For Life.) Only previously knew The Idiot but really quite appreciating its maybe more 'direct' sound to that album

I haven't fully explored his discography yet, but 'Goodbye and Hello' is the one that got me into him. Also love 'Happy Sad.' Makes 'Grace' sound positively dull imo. Yours?

Nah the Hooky I went with wasn't a bass god just a spotty kid. Yeah The Notorious Byrd Brothers is great, short too, there needs to be more thirty minutes or less album out there (If I remember correctly John Cale's Paris1919 is even shorter and just as good). I see you're listening to After the Gold Rush. have you heard Trans? If so what's your opinion on it?

$20 for album was an awful lot haha, I remember spending over the odds for an album (in this case Miles Davis - Get Up With It) which was only available on import from Japan. Now you can get anything so easy it's almost boring haha. Was Selected Ambient Works the most you've ever spent on a record?

If you John Martyn I'd definitely recommend both Gene Clark's No Other & Roy Harper's Stormcock.

Well I deleted it along with the rest of my previous stuff on there, I'll add it back when I have something a bit more interesting to say about Soild Air. Nice to see you're on a Cocteau Twins listening frenzy atm.

Thanks for accepting, by the way your Tumblr looks great ! I see you consider Remain In Light the best Talking Heads album, so do I. I like Fear Of Music pretty much too.

Hi Zach, thanks for dropping by. See you've been listening to more Eno recently. Well, he is your no. 1 artist !! Favourite Eno album? Not heard them all but of those I have heard, I'd go for Music For Films. Beautiful little mood pieces that take you somewhere and then leave you there. Me, I'm digging some dancey stuff this week. Don't know if you're a Floyd fan but I'd recommend checking out a UK electronic outfit called The Egg. Man, they take you somewhere else as well. Peace, Raggleman

yeah it seems their whole discography is pretty solid. i've listen through almost each album at least once, but one song in particular that have stucked with me is: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WeaHLr9zkWQ&list=PLpdlkwzfCDUL41pn_HOu1LV8sp6sTVn4M&index=8. Which is amazing and maybe even one of my favorite songs ever (have a lot of those though). didn't know that Varg is a Dead Can Dance fan, but i can mos def see that now when you mention it.

    Septiembre 2013
  • questar_

it is indeed. looking at your charts makes me feel that i probably should listen more to dead can dance. which album of theirs is your favorite?

    Septiembre 2013
  • questar_

right back at ya dewd. people who like eno and talk talk is good people in my book.

    Septiembre 2013
  • mrgypsum

i love most of the projects by doom, i havent heard jj doom yet but i know people who says its great. i think the tracks doom writes are great, do you have the metal fingers albums? the special herbs tracks are awesome its pretty much most of the tracks from mm food and operation doomsday and also black bastards buts its great to get them as instrumentals, he has a talent for making great beats

    Septiembre 2013
  • mrgypsum

as for recommendations i am in a complete electro and techno hole right now haha so most of my current favorites will be mostly electronic. i notice you like artists that venture out of that, if you like dead can dance you might like COIL, http://www.last.fm/music/Coil COIL formed after throbbing gristle broke up i really like them, check out the COIL album horse rotor vator if you like that you will like most of their stuff if you like aphex twin /boc you might also like plaid http://www.last.fm/music/Plaid they have sort of a boc type mood but with more dancy beats. check out the plaid album double figure

    Septiembre 2013
  • mrgypsum

dont get me wrong i still really like campfire, i just prefer their other albums, geogaddi, TH and music has the right, there will probably be a new EP coming out see since thats pretty much their cycle, album EP, album EP, ...

    Septiembre 2013
  • mrgypsum

my only problem with campfire was that it was a little too hippy for my tastes, its kind of like bibio.. now there is nothing wrong with that per se, but boc started out on skam records who are known for more electronic/idm style stuff. i thought tomorrows harvest was a return to that, however it was even better because its practically a movie soundtrack. have you ever heard the soundtrack to the movie Escape from New York? its very similiar in mood and sound, however TH is obviously boc whereas NY is carpenter. i feel like they are back on track

    Septiembre 2013
  • mrgypsum

i liked the new boc as much as geogaddi and way better than campfire. they are reaching into john carpenter territory which i really like.

This is an interesting article about Morrissey's latino following. http://www.theguardian.com/film/2005/mar/25/popandrock And yes, I am one of those fans who has stood outside the Salford Lads Club to have my photo taken!!!

Yeah, I heard about this Hispanic following, I can't get my head around it but think it's great.

    Agosto 2013
  • thommyrotten

Thanks! Obviously I love all The Smiths albums (I don't think they released anything less than brilliant), but if I had to pick one it would be The Queen Is Dead, it's just perfect. Morrissey solo is harder, I go through phases but Ringleader of the Tormentors is an album I keep going back to because I love the drama of the production. The Smiths are big in the UK, in an alternative to the mainstream way, kind of bridging the gap. Like, they are very big, but not Beatles big. But definitely not cult. What are they in the States? I love Talking Heads too by the way.

Thanks you have great charts too. Just bought my first R.E.M. album (Out of Time) a couple of days ago, and I'm really enjoying it. What other album should I listen to? Sorry you had to miss this concert. I missed that show that came through Dallas a while back and I was glad I finally got to see them.
