I'd be happy to hear any suggestions as to what to call it. I was thinking something like 'Free Indie Music Downloads' and then having the description mention indie/c86/indiepop/twee/experimental.

I really want to avoid attracting the Saddle Creek crowd or Pitchfork adherents…you know what I mean, that really newfangles over-American definition of indie. Last.fm is great when you find your niche, but scary when you step into an emo or 'O.C. indie' area.

Cat Power - This seems strange to me now, but I think it just made me really sad in a way I didn't want to feel at the time. I think I've found the one that takes the cake, which is no mean feat considering this is a collection that includes such classics as Bach To The Future.

It's a German 70s compilation called 'Hit Jumbo' consisting of your usual painful 70s radio fare, plus many German songs including, strangely, quite a few by Greek singers (staple tormentors from my childhood such as Demis Roussos and Nana Mouskouri appear) performing German songs and… Kraftwerk? Autobahn, to be specific. A very strange find indeed.

Are there any good ones out there other than The Covers Project and Second Hand Songs? Both are quite good, but hardly comprehensive. The biggest drawback for both is the submissions process. Covers Project's being non-existent now, and Second Hand Songs requiring you to post a list in the forum for the sitemaster to approve and add (eventually).

There's just no way I could be bothered searching the forum to check if what I want to suggest is pending, writing out a list, finding references etc. I'd like to enter songs as I think of them on a form. Covers…

I have just enough to make my French soundtrack tag streamable, but I'd like to chuck Betty Blue (37.2 Le Matin) and La Haine (grrr… the first of several badly tagged albums on this tag). The former because it's patchy, and the music I do like on it I prefer to hear really occasionally, so as to preserve its association with scenes in the film I love. And La Haine because, while it's interesting to hear, it doesn't quite go with the relaxing nature of the rest of the tagged albums.

I'm always hearing Pandora this and Pandora that, and I never understand why those people who swear by it can't seem to be bothered to get into last.fm. So I'm pitting them against each other, hopefully to show Last.fm does a much better job of recommending stuff much closer to stuff you actually like, and way less crap. This is going to be Similar Artist Radio on last.fm vs Artist Radio on Pandora for a single artist. (Multiple artist radio on Pandora will play too many of my own choices).
