  • 50 Qs about your Top 50

    28 Sep 2008, 13:36

Stole this from another entry that I came across.

    1. What's your favorite song by 15?
Jens Lekman - could have 30 from this guy, but it would have to be Another Sweet Summer's Night on Hammer Hill. A capella was created for voices like that.

    2. How did you get into 20?
Kylie Minogue - because I live in Australia? It's hard to avoid her music really. But if there's one track that made me interested in her, it's Slow.

    3. Who is your favorite member in 1?
    Madonna - hmm... Sean Penn?

    4. Whats your favorite lyric bit by 29?
Arcade Fire - from Neighborhood #1 (Tunnels):
"And if the snow buries my/my neighborhood/and if my parents are crying/then I'll dig a tunnel/from my window to yours"
I just really like the sound of the line "from my window to yours"

    5. Have you ever seen 22 live?
Brand New - sadly no, though I swore I would when they came to Australia for the BDO at the beginning of the year. Soon, hopefully!

    6. What's your favorite album from 10?
Daft Punk - Homework, but they're all great in my opinion. I always just seem to find new and interesting things with these songs though. Alive and Daftendirekt are just too great.

    7. Do you own any merchandise from 3?
Nine Inch Nails - no but they do have some snazzy looking shirts

    8. What is a good memory you have of 7?
Tegan & Sara - hopefully will have a good memory of their Adelaide show happening this January, but until then probably dancing to their album at my friend's birthday a few months back.

    9. Is there a member of the same age as you in 2?
The Mars Volta - no, closest is Thomas Pridgen who is 5 years older than me

    10. When did you first get into 8?
Yeah Yeah Yeahs - first took notice of them when I saw the Maps video back in year 9, '03. Really got into them in year 12 when I heard them being interviewed on JJJ. Turn Into really caught my attention.

    11. Who likes 4 along with you?
Ryan Adams - serious?! I wish I had a friend who admired this great man along with me! I was deterred from going to see him in '07 because I had no one to go along with me, though that didn't stop from going to Jens Lekman earlier this year.

    12. Which song did you first hear from 16?
Willy Mason - Oxygen, of course. I actually thought it was really dull at first. He's a total hero of mine now

    13. What song made you fall in love with 5?
We Are Scientists - it was eitherGhouls or Lethal Enforcer. I bought Brain Thrust Mastery on an impulse without hearing anything from them and was listening to it on a long drive and these two really stuck out to me. I suppose all their synth-use is a bit of a jarring change of sound for their old fans but to me it sounded so cool. Still does

    14. Which song do you not like by 18?
Against Me! - I got really sick of Stop! when it got a lot of radio play, even though I loved it most when I first got New Wave.

    15. Why do you like 14's songs?
Britney Spears - I guess with some of them it's the fact that they're so cheesey they're good, except for her ballads, I just can't stomach them. The Blackout songs are just irresistibly danceable.

    16. Where did you first hear 6?
Parkway Drive - on the radio when I was in the car on the way to Whyalla with Dad to buy a computer, can't remember the song. I bought a Parkway Drive CD while I was there too, Don't Close Your Eyes.

    17. How long was 19 a singer before you liked them?
Nelly Furtado - I'm sure she's been singing a long time but I'm guessing I'm Like a Bird was her debut and that was 2001 I think, and I didn't really take notice until her second album, so a few years.

    18. Does 13 have a song that gives you a bad memory?
Explain by Sarah Blasko, if I had to choose one, since I just remember really hating it when it was first out. But I like it now.

    19. When did you get into 17?
At the Drive-In - in year 12, 2006. When I was really into the Mars Volta and had to have everything those guys had ever done. I don't listen to either that much these days, but they're nice to go back to.

    20. How long have you been into 9?
The Flaming Lips - When At War With The Mystics, roughly 2 years. Easily one of my favourites of all time now

    21. If 11 had a concert 300 miles away, would you drive there to see them?
t.A.T.u. - I'm not embarrassed by the fact that I have this group so high on my list, but believe that I would be sorely embarrassed if I did that.

    22. How many CDs do you own of 12?
Dappled Cities Fly - Both Granddance and A Smile, the latter of which came with A Crooked Smile, a remix album that can be bought separately, so 3 I would say.

    23. Does 21 have a song that makes you cry?
Kings of Leon - If I had to cry to one of their songs it would either be to Milk or to Knocked Up.

    24. Does 27 have a song that makes you happy?
    Rilo Kiley - It's A Hit is a pretty happy-inducing track

    25. Does 23 have a song that makes you smile?
Justin Timberlake - FutureSex/LoveSound, it bangs so hard that when I first heard it I couldn't help but smile. Dick in a Box didn't make me laugh by the way!

    26. What's the last song you've listened to from 28?
MGMT - Weekend Wars. Probably their best track

    27. Is there a song by 32 that you've listened to more than 30 times?
Garbage - Hammering in My Head, makes me sweat it all out

    28. What is a song from 50 that you've only listened to once?
The Clash - Jimmy Jazz. I just have an Essentials collection that I listen to sometimes.

    29. Is there a song you are sick of hearing by 24?
Lauryn Hill - I played To Zion to death and now the chorus just grates

    30. What song got you into 40?
Kelis - I was addicted to Trick Me way back in '04.

    31. What is your favorite single by 25?
Sondre Lerche - the guy couldn't write a dull tune if he was collaborating with Modern Nature is far too catchy so go past. Maybe You're Gone hits me the hardest though, perfect way to close a great album

    32. If 49 hated you, what would you do?
Fergie - change my name, change my address. Girl's got connections in the hood!

    33. What would you say if 42 or one of the members from 42 asked you out?
    Phoenix - Frenchies? Swoon!

    34. Would you care if 41 had a boyfriend/girlfriend?
David Gray - I'm sure his wife would

    35. Who has the best voice in 46?
    Hot Chip - the singer?

    36. Do you think 26 is/are good looking?
Janet Jackson - she's kind of frightening and cheap and when she turned 40 not long ago I was shocked because I thought she was well older. Nope!

    37. How many times have you listened to your favorite song by 36?
Vampire Weekend - I've listened to A-Punk and M79 equally as much, but I would say M79 is my favourite by them

    38. How many CDs do you own of 30?
Ryan Adams & The Cardinals - 2 albums and their EP, and soon Cardinology too. Hurry up!

    39. Is there a song from 38 that makes you mad?
The Grates - 19-20-20, but anything really because I don't really care for them anymore

    40. Which member from 31 do you want to see go solo? If 31 is only one artist, what would you do if they joined a group?
Goldfrapp - Allison I suppose? She might have before

    41. What does your favorite song from 48 remind you of?
Dannii Minogue - Don't Wanna Lose This Feeling reminds me of Madonna, because of the sweet mash-up

    42. Did you hate 43 at first?
Carpathian - I suppose I judged them unkindly because they were an Australia hardcore band and that usually doesn't mean a good thing, but all is well now!

    43. Does your best friend also listen to 33?
Garbage - I suppose my best friends wouldn't mind them

    44. Do you think your parents would like 37?
Regina Spektor - she would be way too wierd for my mum but dad might find her interesting. Might find her songs interesting.

    45. Does 47 have a song that makes you want to dance?
Gyroscope - I guess Fast Girl's bassline is quite danceable, yes

    46. Have you ever seen 34 in person?
    Gorillaz - I don't think anyone has

    47. Do you like 44's name?
The White Stripes - I wish I thought of it first

    48. Is there someone in 45 that you want to go out with?
Björk - I'm sure there's a personality in there that would get along with me

    49. Do you know anyone that hates 39?
T.I. - not personally, but he wouldn't need all those guns if those people didn't exist, right?

    50. Have you ever danced to a song from 35?
Norah Jones - well she's not exactly Madonna but I suppose it could be good slow-dance stuff? But no I haven't.
