• this album makes me sad, but it's so good...

    28 May 2008, 11:47

so i first listened to this album (I'm Wide Awake, It's Morning) last september (it's currently may), and umm, i loved it then and i still really do, which doesn't always happen, and it's definitely a sign of quality.

but i'm really writing this to share my feelings on the album, not rate or review it. because yesterday i listened to it and it affected me so much. the songs are all really sad... especially Old Soul Song (For the New World Order), which i hadn't previously liked as much as most of the other tracks.

have you ever listened to a song that you haven't heard in a long time, and it brings you back to when you first heard it? like a powerful emotional time warp? it happens to me sometimes... and i guess it's interesting and sentimental to look back at that time, and reminisce. but it makes me so terribly sad every time. and this song was definitely one of those for me yesterday... i'm so flipping sensitive.
  • The Horrible Fanfare/Landslide/Exoskeleton

    28 Ene 2007, 22:45

This blog is obviously about the song The Horrible Fanfare/Landslide/Exoskeleton on Beck's newest album, The Information.

What is up with that song? The first time I listened to this album, I had already known people didn't like that one. So, I played it and the first song, "The Horrible Fanfare", was actually pretty good. Then "Landslide" came on. I liked that one even better. So, I still couldn't understand why people didn't like it. Then the last song came on... It was like 1 AM and all of a sudden this weird person starts talking. And I got really scared because it was late and I was alone and a creepy voice was talking. And it was the last song, "Exoskeleton". I ran over to the computer and stopped it. And I still haven't listened to the whole song. I don't want to hear weird people talking. I couldn't even understand what they were saying... It was so weird. And now I know why people don't like it. Now, it wouldn't be bad if "Exoskeleton" was it's own track, but no. These 3... "songs" are all one track. I don't understand why. None of them seem to have much in common more than any of the other songs, and besides "Exoskeleton", the songs aren't even that bad. And would it really make a difference whether the songs were 1 track or 3? Maybe I'm missing something. Any thoughts on this song?

  • First Entry..

    4 Mar 2006, 8:19

Kay. This is my first journal entry on here. i guess ill write about which songs i loved this week.

Well i got Arular and also Extraordinary Machine this week. The Fiona CD isnt working right so i cant listen to it. im going to exchange it. But the M.I.A. cd is wonderful! at first it was just ok but after listening 2-3 times the songs kind of catch on and they are really fun. im pretty sure theres some important messages in some songs too even though its like really fun-sounding electro music. i think thats really cool. my favorite songs on Arular are Bucky Done Gun, 10 Dollar, URAQT, Galang, and Sunshowers. I also enjoyed listening to, and watching the video of Ooh La La by Goldfrapp. It's a pretty catchy song. The video was on vh1 and it looked pretty cool. well enough music for today. bye.
