Also, I had to re-write that message twice because Last.fm apparently mistook the button saying "Post shout" for "Delete all the text I've just written". Do you know of a more suitable way to communicate? This shoutbox of 1000 characters seems a bit... limited :/. I never even got to Arcturus and Borknagar before running out of characters to use. You've got way too much great music taste to comment on :P

Haha, I’m okay with not being all that kvlt - I don’t look that good in corpsepaint anyway. Is the kvlt scene big in Norway, though? Thanks for all the recommendations! I actually didn’t know ORE, and just checked their page - they seem tied with Judas Iscariot for most verbose song titles I’ve ever seen :P. I kinda envy you having all the classics on LP - it really seems the best way to listen to them today while still preserving their ‘classicness', I think, dunno, maybe I’m just weird :P. Are vegetarians rare in Norway too? Damn. Here in Denmark it’s really rare, and you get a lot of shit for being vegetarian in public (but then again, our main export is bacon, so…). I first tried going vegetarian in 2007, but relapsed at times. Currently, I’ve been a vegetarian for almost 3 years straight :). How about you? Haha, my profile pic is really old :P, as you can probably guess, but you're welcome! ...aaaand now I feel like listening to it as well. Damn memes.

Hah, yeah, I don't care much for Eminem's whole gay-bashing horrorcore Slim Shady stuff, but I figured that if I'm able to look past the right-wing ideology powering Burzum, I could look past his attitude as well and just enjoy the fact that his rhyming is generally pretty good. But I agree that curiosity about other genres is probably not very "kvlt" :P. I don't have that many albums on vinyl - a couple of old Sabbath releases, a George Harrison box set and a few others. Ulver is my crown jewel! What about you? About electronic, I guess it was mostly trip-hop - Massive Attack, Portishead, Bonobo and Skinny Puppy. I like EBM, but haven't heard that many artists, any recommendations for a newbie? :) I love Assemblage 23, but I'm not sure if that counts as EBM? Also, I just realized that you're vegetarian? Another thing we have in common :) - it makes it a pain to visit Wacken, however, where most people seem to feast upon nothing but meat and the hearts of Bullet for My Valentine fans.

As for "no metal" phases, I indeed do get them (I've just had one where I ended up listening to a bunch of electronic music for some reason). I assume that's where you turn to classic rock? :) Btw, I'm sorry about the wall-of-text. Apparently, shout boxes don't respect my Enter key :(

I can't remember how I got into Ulver anymore, but I used to adore their black trilogy as well - I even managed to dig up the “The Trilogie - Three Journeyes Through the Norwegian Netherworlde” limited LP box set at an auction at Wacken Open Air one year, and bought it for around $250. That was my single most expensive music purchase yet :-P I actually asked you an unfair question: Picking a favorite Ulver album is nearly impossible because of how different they are! I guess… hmm… I guess my favorite album by the ‘new’ (post-Madrigal) Ulver would be Perdition City as well. It’s really unique and interesting! As for the ‘old’ Ulver, I think my favorite track is “I Troldskog faren vild" from Bergtatt - it’s just so odd while at the same time having cool riffs and a simply, but very memorable guitar sound all round. I agree with you on Kveldssanger - the Sabbath cover on Shadow of the Sun is very good for chilling as well, though. :P

No problem! Is it rare to see people with ambient/neofolk combo? That surprises me! I guess I got into ambient via Burzum and related black/dark ambient bands (Xasthur, Leviathan, Drudkh, maybe some WIITR) and then kinda stumbled upon neofolk through some of the folky parts of bands like Wongraven, Finntroll's "Visor Om Slutet" and, in particular, Agalloch's version of "Kneel to the Cross". I don't know why, but I got completely hooked on that song!

Hey, thanks for the friend request! Anyone with Ulver, Solar Fields, Black Sabbath, My Dying Bride (Songs of Darkness, Words of Light > all), :OTWATM: and Stars of the Lid in their Top 20 is cool in my book! The combination of black, ambient and a bit of neofolk is the good stuff! Your profile inspired me to check out Tiamat and Windir (I only know Arntor a little bit), since I'm down with almost everything else in your Top 10 - thanks a lot! Also, I'm curious: What Ulver do you prefer? The black, the folky, the Blake, the electronic, the ambient, the IDM, the avant-garde or one of the others?
