Judas Priest, Queensrÿche, Rival Sons - Sunday 24th July 2011

THIS was one of those events I'd waited for for a long time! 20 years to be precise, as that was how long since I'd seen Judas Priest!!

I only caught the last track of opening act Rising Sons, so it's difficult to judge what I thought based on a single track, though they seemed to receive a good reception!

I was looking forward to seeing the next act, Queensrÿche, as they were an act I'd never seen before, & was certainly looking forward to seeing what they could do. For the most part, I wasn't disappointed, although I felt they sounded a little "flat" at times! Of course, that could've been down to where I was stood during their set, as I've never been a big fan of the acoustics at this venue, or perhaps I simply expected too much?! Either way, they did an excellent job of warming the crowd, as one would expect them to do, encapsulated by their final track Eyes of a Stranger, which the whole venue seemed to warm to & appreciate.

And finally, the main event - Judas Priest!!
It's difficult to know where to start, as there were so many great things one could mention! Highlighting just how great the evening was!!
I've seen some bands that seem to get "lazy" later in their careers when out on the road, NOT Judas Priest!! From the excellent backdrops & projections behind the band, accentuating the songs played & the relative era from which they were from, to the excellent lighting, the lazers, the pyrotechnics, it was all good - & that's before we've even mentioned the band themselves!!

What can one say about the guys up there, that probably hasn't been said a million times before...?! They were awesome!! How on earth Rob Halford can still hit those high notes of his after all these years, is beyond me - but that's just more credit to him!!
If anyone came away from this gig disappointed, or claiming that they didn't get to hear at least one of their favourite Judas Priest tracks, they're either lying, or were at the wrong gig!! With at least one track played from each of their albums [minus the "Ripper" Owens offerings], one got the chance to taste something from everything they'd done!
There were certainly no complaints from me, as I was happy to hear many of the songs I love, whilst at the same time seeing the band still showing such great enthusiasm in playing them, especially Breaking the Law, when Rob simply turned the microphone to the crowd, & had them sing it for them!!

I could go on & on & on, as I simply loved every minute of it, but will simply post the set-list, & let others share there thoughts...
