  • CHANGES IN MIND

    20 Jun 2008, 0:58

I began work on this project in early 2007 and the recording continued right up until the very beginning of this year. Originally conceived as a pure demo collection for possible record company interest, I decided once i had reached a ''stopping'' point that i wanted to share as globally and as freely as possible a kind of appetite wetter for the listener.

    CHANGES IN MIND

The tracks were recorded in and around our houses and in the garden with a battery-powered pzm microphone. The album is our gift to mother nature and all that exists from the heart. The vibe behind most of the music is to be free, loving, thoughtful and adventurous, there is also dark to be found in abundance if you listen closely enough.

Please take the time, have a listen and enjoy, I have tried to entertain your whole being.
  • MOONLIGHT

    10 Jun 2008, 21:25

This track was recorded very quickly, but i feel captures an essence and vibe of the two things i was trying to put across to the listener. Ben and I used to sit in a place called the cave, and we used to play everynight there. The best time of course was the full moon- the magic silver light....etc And second a mystical, romantic, sensual feeling ( the rainbow queen, being of course my wife cathy) which we found together on the moonlit waters of sciliy.

Ben plays a very cylic 12 string part like the moon that is hypnotic and trancelike. There is 6 string and flute from me and of course vocals recorded with a very warm valve mike. We kept the tune sparse ( which we find difficult), and i like the result. As with all these tracks though the final/full version will be released on the forthcoming album.

  • The Outcast

    20 Abr 2008, 22:25

One of the things the most i enjoyed about recording this song, is the spontaneity with which it was spawned. From a Bus Journey through the woods to where i live, the inspiration was the judgmental behaviour of many humans and when considered a freak to fly the flag high and attain your destiny, without the interference of others.

The Drumkit and congas were recorded first, then some open tuned guitars in stereo and then some maracas and bass.
The dual-slide guitars build a bluesy-riff while the flute improvises in an explosive fashion in the space between.

For the lead vocal i had bert jansch in mind with some kind of multi-tracked barber shop mantra backing vocals going on. The Summit for me is the flute solo that breaks out towards the end. I recorded this with distortion, and delay on the mic to give a kind of heavy-metal Ney sounding thing....
  • About Seagull

    16 Abr 2008, 22:17

Seagull is a song very close to my heart. And i think certainly one of my favourite recordings ive done. Recorded of a span of two weeks, i decided to make it as short as i could handle, which for me is difficult.. As this is not the absolute definitive version i would choose to have less reverb on the vocals though its kinda cool. I recorded the vocals singing into a toy echo mic placed over pzm microphone. The middle section was recorded very improvised and free like the seagull i was imagining in my mind. The soaring reverse guitar/flute for me is a high point and harbours the real subconsious vibe/meaning of the song. I also used a combination of harmonium/dulcimer and panpipe throughout with the rythmn guitars as a basis for the basic track.
  • PSYCHEDELIC SOUL

Well where to start, this album has i think all the perfect elements of a classic psychedelic album. Every track has solid basslines that move you, great/amazing guitar work ( riffs and solo's). Obviously the vocals are amazing especially if you like motown/funk/soul.

The message is clear and rightous in everysong. They extol the virtues of love/freedom/friendship/equality and just good vibes. This album is essential for anyone who thinks they listen to good music, because untill youve heard this you haven't..................................
