How I Became An Indie Music Fan [part2]

…the second time I heard Smells Like Teen Spirit, I was already in 8th grade. I got the name of the band and said it like 10 times or so just to remember and not to forget it again. Of course, i wanted some more songs to satisfy my mind. I was surprisingly disciplined in doing that. I got myself one album after another and each one averted me for about 3 months or so. When i think of my music consumption nowadays then these album were something really important for me. It doesn't need to be said that all music gets boring with the time despite of Bach maybe ;-). I can say I have them all: cd's, b-sides, acoustics, vhs, dvd, whatever. I "was" a freak running around in a t-shirt, which presented a dead yellow smiley.
I don't know when it was, but at some point I began looking for some similar bands. Logically consistent I followed the trace to Seattle. Bands like Mudhoney, Soundgarden or Alice in Chains were waiting there for me. After a short intermezzo with Alice in Chains I buried my belief that these bands represented what I liked on Nirvana.
More than 1 and a half year in complete obsession were gone, when i became aware of one the last great music shows on German TV: "Fast Forward" made me think. "Fast Forward" made me resist. "Fast Forward" made me an individual human being. Charlotte Roche let me weaken.
I was watching the show in late spring of 2005, when i first saw a video of two weird looking guys playin' their song in front of some elderly people and a pastor. The song was called 10 a.m. automatic.
