Graphic novels

A somewhat short journal and not related to music but here we go:

I'm late to the game so to speak when it comes to graphic novels. Within the last few months I've bought and read V for Vendetta and the Watchmen. I have seen V for Vendetta the film and thought the graphic novel was amazing and much better than the film.

I've not seen the Watchmen and don't really desire to. The story is so good and the ending especially is quite amazing. I can't really put into words why I like it but I can say that I like how Moore handled the ending, even though I was pissed that my favorite character from the book was no more.

So now I'm ready for more. Would like to take a bit of a break from Moore's work, just because I would like to see how other authors and artists work.

On recommendation from a close friend, my next read will be the Sandman series by Neil Gaiman. I'm not familiar with Mr. Gaiman's work other than having seen a few movies from books he wrote such as Stardust.

Having read a bit about the Sandman series it seems quite interesting and I look forward to checking out not only the stories but the artwork.

Beyond this I'm not familiar with what is out there and am looking for recommendations.

As I do live in Taiwan, I do have access to a very good book store that has a huge selection of graphic novels. This includes both western as well as eastern books. In fact one section is nothing but Japanese ones translated into English.

So if there's any stories or authors I should check out feel free to let me know, thank you.

As I've been on somewhat of an 80s bender recently as far as youtube videos go I leave you with one of my favorites, "Jeopardy" by the Greg Kihn Band. (The Weird Al version is quite good as well)

Take care all.
