  • 7 reasons why I love Canada!

    23 Jun 2010, 17:00

    1. because of their funny and cool accent.
    2. since Terrence And Philip from South Park are canadian, and they are damn funny
    3. due to many bands like Billy Talent, Three Days Grace, Simple Plan, and many others.
    4. because of Robin from How I Met Your Mother, she is hot and Canadian!!
    5. this doesnt effect me but (almost) free health care is always good!
    6. because of Colin Mochrie(balding canadian) from Whose Line Is It Anyway?
    7. three words.. "Russell Fuckin' Peters!" XD
  • Songs that changed my life and can change yours too...

    15 Jun 2010, 5:51

    1. Linkin Park - Place for My Head

I was a super- nerd when I was like about 10-12 years old..I hardly heard music (mostly it would be the radio shit). My Friend played this loud in his house, at first I was fucking scared when i listened to the intro, after a few plays more, I loved it!
I thought this was heavy metal!!

    2. System of a Down - Chop Suey!

After hearing Linkin Park, I wanted moooaaaar, I wanted more Music more "Metal". Again my friend told me, "Listen to this! He sings very fast ". And the rest is history (cheesy, isn't it?)

    3. Silversun Pickups - Rusted Wheel

Later, I got into a lot of rock music, I bought rock magazines like Rocksound, Big Cheese Magazine and others.. I read an album review of their album Swoon. They were given an 8/10. That didnt interest me.. Later I was TV and I saw that one channel VH1 had a scrolling tickr in the bottom of the screen, which showed "Youtube Video Of The Day- Silversun Pickups - Rusted Wheel (album version w/ lyrics) ", so then I thought it would be good to check it out.. I heard the song, I was mesmerized for the entire 6 minutes of the song..and now they are one of my top artists..

    4. The Prodigy - Omen

I saw this video on VH1, and thats it... I fucking loved it!!!

    5. Mindless Self Indulgence - Shut Me Up

    sorry the quality sucks...
I read another rock magazine and I saw their interview.. they were funny guys so I checked out the song/video Shut Me Up which they kept on talking about.. It didnt get me the first time.. but when I heard it again..IT FUCKIN CHANGED MY LIFE!!

    6. Rise Against - Re-Education (Through Labor)

My friend's band was going to perform this cover, the guitarist of the band told me download this song for him as his internet didn't work. I had never heard of the band before, so I heard that song before they performed it...It was Awesome!!!!

    7. girugamesh - Evolution and
    Ultimate 4

I discovered when I was supposed to be studying for my exams! I was reading another music magazine (once again..). I saw the review of their album MUSIC. It was given 7/10. The review compared it to System of a Down, Linkin Park, Slipknot (the bands i liked initially), so I went to youtube through my phone, and heard evolution first, it was amazing!(i srsly dont have a good vocabulary), then I heard ULTIMATE 4. It was amaz-.. i mean great!

The other things that changed my life was Jimmy Eat World's album Clarity. I listened to the entire album over and over for a month along with Futures

Also, Breaking Benjamin used to be a band I avoided because I heard one of their songs long before which sounded cold and dark.. Later I found BB on my ipod (I dont know how it got there...). I was getting bored I heard it, I kinda liked it..Slowly it became my top artist...

Thanks for bearing my journal! :D
  • Is Post-Rock too generic?

    6 Jun 2010, 17:05

i ve been listening to post rock quite a lot nowadays and i found out that most of instrumental bands almost sound the same at some point or the other. And So I Watch You From Afar, Maybeshewill, God Is An Astronaut and If These Trees Could Talk sound almost similar, but And So I Watch You From Afar is more aggressive than the above mentioned..and 65daysofstatic are similar to many post rock bands even though its kinda electronic..
overall post rock has many riffs, textures and is very atmospheric and ambient
  • Can There Be Emo-Grunge?

    28 Ene 2010, 17:11

Emo(My Chemical Romance)-- you know whats it about splitting wrists, sadness, anger and 'shit' like that (no offence to anyone). And we all know Screamo is aggravated emo form.. Grunge( Nirvana) is pretty much a mix of emo and screamo .If you equate the aggravation with sadness you can you can get emo-grunge with edgy interesting guitar riffs and emotional lyrics!

  • Is Post-Grunge Pop Rock?

    27 Ene 2010, 15:30

Breaking Benjamin sounds like pop rock... it sounds like an aggravated version of Daughtry or Nickelback mostly the new album Dear Agony sounds like Nickelback's intense moments slowed down..
Three Days Grace are definitely pop rock/post grunge with their albums in their charts they are certainly as famous as Nickelback
