Top 20 of 2007

So it's about that time for me to make my list. I'm not really anticipating anything else coming out this year so I figure I might as well go ahead and do it. One thing to note is that these are the top albums that I personally have listened to. I'm sure there's a ton of stuff that would go on this list had I listened to it. I've just been way too busy to keep on top of everything. Some releases that come to mind that I just haven't been able to listen to yet, for one reason or another include those by Okkervil River, of Montreal, Battles, Maritime, Avenged Sevenfold, Thrice, and Beirut. I'll get to them eventually folks, don't worry. Another thing to note is that this list is a little different from the one I made a few months ago. I think I was a little too high on some albums at the time, so this time I sat back and assessed the year as a whole. Anyways, here it is:

1. Machine Head - The Blackening
2. Iron & Wine - The Shepherd's Dog
3. Band of Horses - Cease to Begin
4. Nine Inch Nails - Year Zero
5. Minus the Bear - Planet of Ice
6. The Shins - Wincing the Night Away
7. Smashing Pumpkins - Zeitgeist
8. Radiohead - In Rainbows
9. Coheed and Cambria - Good Apollo, I'm Burning Star IV, Vol. 2: No World For Tomorrow
10. As I Lay Dying - An Ocean Between Us

11. Explosions in the Sky - All of a Sudden I Miss Everyone
12. The New Pornographers - Challengers
13. The Arcade Fire - Neon Bible
14. From Autumn To Ashes - Holding A Wolf By The Ears
15. Telefon Tel Aviv - Remixes Compiled
16. Bright Eyes - Cassadaga
17. Every Time I Die - The Big Dirty
18. Eddie Vedder - Into the Wild
19. Handsome Furs - Plague Park
20. Sea Wolf - Leaves In The River

The new Battles album is great. I really loved it. Hissing Fauna Are You the Destroyer? wasn't bad either, but I think I listened to way too much Of Montreal in highschool and I need a bit of a break from it.. Not a bad list = ) but there's no way I could leave off Panda Bear- Person Pitch Liars- Liars and Joanna Newsom- Y's

ahh I keep forgetting to listen to Panda Bear....I'll add that to my list as well. Also, I thought Ys came out in 2006. Unless you're referring to the EP that I think came out this year. On a side note, there is one album that came out this year that I completely forgot to add onto my list. If I were doing it over again, it would probably slide somewhere between positions 8-13. That album would be the inevitable rise and liberation of niggytardust by Saul Williams. I don't know how it slipped my mind when I was putting my list together, but there you go.

hmm I haven't heard that Y's may have came out in 2006... I always get these things mixed up and forget about things like Panda Bear that came out at the beginning of the year.
