Wolke 7

Ahoy,

once again I found a bunch of news on the Internet. And then there are my (few) stats. So here you have it.

Last week in covers:

Noteworthy:
> Cyndi Lauper : I still think that “Bring Ya To The Brink” is underrated. Anyway… I revisited that album last week.
> The Band Perry : actually, I’m sure those tracks came up on my playlist when I was searching for Christina Perri. Nonetheless great stuff. ^^
> Maximilian Hecker : I’m still getting to know his dreamy songs from “Mirage of Bliss”. :)
> Katy Perry : guess what. I bought CDs again. And one of them was the phenomenal “Teenage Dream” (The Complete Confection version) - as one rare record with 5 number one tracks on it, a few remixes and my favorite song “Wide Awake”. Let’s see if the video will win some VMAs soon. ^^
> Justin Bieber : yeah, so I listened to his music again. So what? ^^
> ATB : well, yeah, some trance vibes didn’t hurt either last week. ^^

Stats!

Most played artists:
> Will Dixon : well, funny story. I met this artist at a gathering on the weekend in London (a very nice person) and found out that he has some EPs online. So one of the first things I did when I got home yesterday was to look that up. I’m still not that used to Trock music, but I have a lot to catch up on as well. ^^
> Karmin : this band got featured on US television and I remembered that I’ve never checked them out. Interesting trendy stuff.
> John Mayer : new EP alert. Some acoustic versions have quite a different vibe than the final album version. And that’s nice. ^^

Most played tracks: (just one due to the lack of replays)
> Jar Of Hearts : as I (surely) wrote before, I love her voice. And this is one of the best tracks from her latest album.

News?
> “Love Sea” is the new song by Alphabeat and it starts quite similar to “Baba O’Riley” by The Who. But then it gets a whole lotta cheesier. A good time song. ^^
> The new song by Taylor Swift from her upcoming album “Red” is called “We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together” and it’s more teen pop like than you might expect.
> Can you believe that there’s a new version of that Michael Jackson classic “Bad”? And it features Pitbull, of course. Everybody, thank Afrojack. ^^
> Green Day’s latest single is called “Kill The DJ”, it’s explicit and has some kind of retro vibe.
> Brandy’s new track “Put It Down” (featuring Chris Brown) has a video now. And it’s as meh as the song. (But nice to know that Brandy uses a Sony VAIO notebook.)
> Shaggy? Eve? Together on a song? And then it’s a remix of “Girls Just Wanna Have Fun” (by Cyndi Lauper). Wow, we really needed this as a hip-hop club banger. Even a colorful video can’t help it. ^^
> The new video/single by 3OH!3 is called “You’re Gonna Love This”, but in my case that isn’t true. Both song and video disappoint.
> Papa Roach is a rock band I can still remember from my youth. And they have a new song/video called “Still Swingin”. The video has some zombie action going on and blinding lights when the band plays. ^^
> Next is Nickelback. Now I know that there is quite a buzz about this band, because of the hate they seem to get. Anyway… I like quite a few of their songs. So I was looking forward to check out their new video for “Trying Not To Love You”. However, I have to say… I don’t like this as a music video. It looks like a dull sketch or a commercial. And though the story is nice, I think it doesn’t help the song. :(
> Ke$ha’s next single will probably be called “Supernatural” (which lets me think of Katy Perry’s “E.T.”) with an album likely to be released in early November.
> I may not know many songs by Emeli Sandé, but I’ve learned that her next album “Our Versions Of Events” will come out in October.
> Alicia Keys released the Instagram version of her video “New Day” - and it has lots of positive things to show.
> Alex Gaudino had a hit (with vocals by Crystal Waters) a few years ago (“Destination Calabria”). And now he features Taboo (from the Black Eyed Peas) in a new song/video called “I Don’t Wanna Dance”, that is just a meh production. The tune even reminds of “Can You Feel It” by The Jackson Five and “Sorry” by Madonna.
> Leona Lewis new single “Trouble” will come out in October.

New tracks from the German charts: Oh, we have a new number one.
One Day/Reckoning Song (Wankelmut Remix) : I like that it’s not a real club track. But tbh it starts to annoy me. (That might change, though.) ^^
Wolke 7 (feat. Philipp Poisel) : wow. Just wow. That song is amazing. And the video, too. Usually I’m sceptical of German hip-hop, but this is great. And thus, it makes me happy to see that the track has success.
World In Your Hands : this one even hasn’t a video yet. Oh, and I just learned that it has a context with the Olympics. OK, so put this track under event promotion success. But it’s not that bad. ^^
