Hello, I enjoyed reading your blog. The only problem is reading it has given me a hefty list of books I want to get my hands on (✿◠ω◠)

I loove the British indie stuff! I see you listen to a lot of The Shins. I bet you're a big Broken Bells fan, too, then.

Hi Madeleine - I agree - that red line was not a surprise at all! It's so good to be able to browse through your music library as well as your book library! I'm looking forward to lots of discussions with you on both sites. Kris

HI! nice to hear from you! Friendship is not a matter of entitlement and there's always plenty of time to respond. I'll be stealing ideas from your library The banana has no meaning, except that I happened to be cleaning one day and was wearing yellow gloves . I decided to block some colours right there, right then.

Jesus, that should have been "vacation since December 19th..."...enough!

Why did that last shout come off like a diary entry?? Oh well, hope you have a good and bright-eyed New Year. Or something of that ilk.

The last minute shopping was a success! No glances of betrayal, confusion, angst, sadness or horror were aimed at me upon the opening of gifts. I've been on December 19th, and am pretty bored. All I've been doing is having the TV on with no sound, staying up late and getting up early smoking cigarettes. I went to the library twice and the movies once. Lately college football has kept me company in the evenings. I tried reading the biography of Walter Johnson, Washington Senators pitching great from 1907-1927, but the guy was such a fucking saint, that I didn't finish it. Alert the Bandwagon police, because I finished book one of Stieg Larrson's "Millenium" trilogy in one week. On to book two, I can't stop. I've been listening to Pixies "Doolittle" a lot, a lot lately. I have no concrete plans for the New Year. I hardly think that's a big deal anymore, yet, I also feel the pressure in finding something. What I'll end up doing is probably drinking something with something in it.

    3. I saw Wilco for the 8th time this Saturday, and like the previous seven times, they didn't disappoint. It was a quieter show, I mean still electrified and energetic, but an older, wiser performance. Or something like that. I bought a cool scarf and tshirt. Good weekend. 4. I've been listening to lots and lots of Air and Zero 7. Maybe with the colder/shittier weather my tastes get darker, moodier, syrup-ier. I don't know. 5. Life's not too bad. I hate winter and am ready for baseball season to start again. 6. It's good hearing from you. Write when you can!!

    1. Listening to the W/IF..."Only Anarchists are Pretty"...I don't mind it because it reminds of a younger, more entertaining, uh, better version of Billy Joel. Although, and this is a big although, not a huge fans of brass horns in any form of rock, with few exceptions (Okay, "Can't You Hear Me Knocking" by the Stones is really the only exception). But overall, I like the energy, and yes, there's definitely a cabaret-y vibe to them. Who knew the Rockette's formed a band?!!! 2. The Dead Meadow Face-Melt-athon was back in October. And they were goddamn superb. It was me and my brother's birthday the next day, so one of the bartenders let me take down a Dead Meadow flyer from the wall and I had the band sign it for my brother with birthday wishes. Performance-wise, they were great, despite a kind of small-ish crowd (it was a Sunday night). I wanted to hear the song "At Her Open Door" and I did. Yay.

I prefer to think of myself as an acquired taste. You may come to a less flattering conclusion.

(If you see classical music scrobbling, it means my dog's listening to music. Not kidding even a little.)
