16 Feb 2008, 18:38My mom's had a stroke. She remembers things she shouldn't and doesn't remember the things she should. It's heartbreaking. I've been preparing myself for this for a long time, but you can never be prepared enough, I guess. What we have stuffed up there in those electrons is so precious, and it could be gone in an instant. I don't have a song for this, just a prayer that Mom knows she's loved, even though she may not know much else.

In this world there's a whole lot of pain,
In this world, there's a whole of trouble
But a whole of of ground to gain.
Why take when you could be giving?
Why watch as the world goes by?
It's a hard enough life to be living
Why walk when you can fly?"
A week ago today, we buried my wife's cousin Gloria. She was 42, had a husband and 2 kids, and was taken by cancer. When my wife and I got married, Gloria welcomed me into my wife's family and made us feel like we'd always been a part of it. She was the jokester, the prankster, the life of every party. She's the one who took my daughter on her first Jet-Ski ride, and made sure that my daughter got pitched off at least twice. She's the one who'd stay up til the wee hours helping you with your remodeling project, or find clothes for your kids when money was tight, or organize the family reunion. When we said the rosary for her last week, she overflowed the room at the funeral home. I was so sorry she missed the party, but I'm hoping I see her at one on the other side. She was pure, uncomplicated joy and love, and I will miss her terribly. May we all live as well. Why Walk When You Can Fly?
Bye Cuz! Love You

22 May 2006, 16:24349 Tracks in, no neighbours yet. Apparently I have no taste! ;) Only about 40 tracks in this week, I wasn't around the computer much and amarok just will not cooperate with other apps until I get more RAM. Next week we go to 512, I think. I'm still having problems with several ripped .oggs, so I think I'm going to re-do them on another system and see if it's the creation problem or a playback problem. Later!
19 May 2006, 3:44Moved Daughter #2 home from college for the summer today. I've still got my carry the furniture mojo! In honor of this event, I've decided to queue up "Me and Julio Down by the Schoolyard" by Paul Simon. This is a poor substitute for "Schools Out for Summer" by Alice Cooper, but it will have to do....
Arsenal Fans, you have my condolences. On to the world Cup!
