-> They lost their balls on this record. Period.
4.) Soulfly - Omen
-> Soulfly gets worse with every new record.
3.) The Classic Crime - Vagabonds
-> Whoever produced this CD failed miserable. The whole CD in itself is no unit at all. However, TCC can do much better than they did here.
2.) Disciple - Horseshoes & Handgrenades
-> Same with TCC actually. Bad songstructures gives me the impression someone in the band had a good idea for a song and they just didn't work that out.
1.) Raunchy - A Discord Electric
-> Raunchy deserves to being hit in the face for this shit. Nothing at all fits in here. It's horrible to listen to if you know their prior work.
8. Top 5 best records this year (personal choice, whereas #1 is the best):
Tough choice this year. Damn, Anberlin and Demon Hunter are not in this list but this decision was hard to make and is only because of tiny things.
5.) KoRn - Korn III: Remember Who You Are
-> They are back with slamming bass, groovy and hooking guitarsound and ass kicking drums. KoRn as they should be the last 3 records. Nothing mindblowing like Here To Stay, Falling Away From Me and so on but a deserved #5.
4.) End Of You - Remains Of The Day
-> Fantastic record I listened for some time on heavy rotation. Piano, deep guitarsound and a very suitable and a bit melancholic voice of the singer results in astonishing catchy music. Can't get enough of that.
3.) Dagoba - Poseidon
-> Even though that this is a concept album and the guitarsound shouldn't be in the background like this, this record is a new proof that Neo-Thrash easily kicks ass. The lyrics are good (for a concept album), fav songs 'The Devil's Triangle' and 'I Sea Red'. Was worth the waiting. But far away from #2.
2.) Cypecore - Take The Consequence
-> Seriously close to #1 even though Cypecore isn't as perfect as #1. Lyrics could be better but the whole record is so mindblowing. It's fun to listen to. The guitarist who's mixing the records did a perfect job - again. I hope this band gets the reputation it deserves before it disbands. It happened to often that fantastic bands never get well known and disband because of lack of money and loosing interest. It would be a huuuuge shame here.
1.) Heaven Shall Burn - Invictus (Iconoclast III)
-> I never listened to a record that is so close to a 10/10 rating and therefore being a perfect record as this one. It has everything. Heavyness, fantastic lyrics, balls to experiment with industrial tones, emotion as anger and hate, enough alternation to not being bored. HSB will have to fail with their next record. If they don't I'll have my first perfect record and I seriously doubt that.
9. Most memorable songs (alphabetically this time):
Allegaeon - A Cosmic Question...
-> One of the best Technical Death Metal that I have heared so far and it's just a debut. And this with really great lyrics, quite unusual. An exceptionally talented band I am claiming a lot from for the next record. Probably not 2011 but we'll see.
Anberlin - Pray Tell
-> Totally reminds me of Acceptance's So Contagious. Amazingly good song even though that Anberlin got really soft on this record. Nevermind. Anberlin just rocks.
Cypecore - Values Of Life
-> Actually I could write down at least 3/4 of the topical record for being "most memorable". The name is absolutely stupid but still they are the German In Flames as an Industrial version. Fucking epic! They know how to hook the listener! One of the best records this year and almost as perfect as HSB's topical one. (and that's a very huge compliment from me.)
Dagoba - I Sea Red
-> Even though that I dislike the fact that Dagoba cut down the guitarsound and set the drumsound into the foreground (drummer is one of the best but still) I totally like this heavy record. Neo-Thrash as it almost should be. But Dagoba should sing about personal stuff again. I don't like concept albums that much.
Demon Hunter - Collapsing
-> With Just Breathe the best song on that record. DH know how to rock. It's somehow different to the prior records but still very heavy with nice hooklines and a fantastic production/mix. You can still hear the typical DH sound out of it.
End Of You - Just Dance
-> Best record they did. Begins with a piano before the heavy guitarsound sets in. Perfect. Lyrics could be better though. Fantastic band from Finland.
Heaven Shall Burn - Combat
-> Best song, best record, best video. When someone should win prices for these categories then HSB. Lyrics are fantastic! It's astonishing how HSB becomes heavier (and better) with every record they do. I don't know how they wanna top this record… or if they can at all. And I do not care about reviewers saying every song sounds alike. They don't know what they are talking about. It's not more alike than songs on any other record of any other band.
KoRn - Fear Is A Place To Live
-> Finally they are back.. It was about time. Still it wouldn't be wrong to get a second guitar player back on board. Officially.
Lostprophets - AC Ricochet
-> Nearly the whole record makes a good mood when listening. At least it's more positive than most of the other mentioned songs above.
Neaera - Exaltation
-> I was surprised reading they gonna release a new record this year. The prior one was released just 1 year ago. But to be honest they needed to to a new one that fast. Omnicide sucked. They failed miserable with that record. The whole topical record is just mediocre but way better than Omnicide and maybe there will be a new one 2011? ^^ However I really like this song. Best one by far on the record.
Ungrace - Rampant Disease
-> If you like groovy Metal get Ungrace. It's free anyway! And you get a fantastic quality (musically and kbpsly)! I didn't expect to much of it and I got totally bummed listening this song. xD
