Yeah, I'm really excited about the Girls concert, as I've kind of been playing that record non-stop since I got it. So I missed Noah and the Whale in Chicago again-- did you go? As much as I wanted to see them, I think I had a good excuse-- Leonard Cohen at a tiny auditorium. Unreal.

yeah the boy to girl ratio does seem fairly uneven. i am definitely trying to stay on prof. grueber's good side, she is hopefully going to write me some good recommendations for working at both the IU art museum and potentially doing the summer MOMA internship in NYC after junior year. fingers crossed. what are you up to now in chicago?

hahaha understandable, bloomington is not particularly comparable to chicago. i'm jealous of all the shows you are going to and i am definitely going to try and make it up to the city again this year for at least one show. this year i am taking survey of islamic art with professor greuber, who i love. the unfortunate thing is that i might have to change my art history major to a minor, but we'll see.

indiana, huh? i never would have guessed it (although i guess jagjaguwar is there, right? anyplace that puts out okkervil river and swan lake records can't be too bad). i've been in hyde park all year, which has prevented me from seeing as much music as i'd have liked just because it's so far away from everything, but i've just moved up to wicker park and am hoping to remedy that problem. i saw vivian girls at the empty bottle tonight (they impressed me that much at pitchfork), and they were spectacular (again). anybody i should be on the look-out for?

hey! are you in bloomington? are you teaching this year?

yeah, i saw them at av-aerie in the fall, and they were pretty phenomenal. as for recently, i've been so busy with school that i haven't gotten to go to nearly as many shows as i've wanted to. i saw broken social scene at the beginning of the summer (who are always great), and then i went to pitchfork a few weeks ago (highlights: frightened rabbit, yeasayer, vivian girls, and, above all, beirut). how about you?

alas, i did not make it to the show-- how was it? their cover of "girlfriend in a coma" has been on repeat, though.

Yeah I was pretty excited to find that that one landed as my 20,000th. I think it's pretty much the best ever as well.
