Wed 15 Oct – Hellsongs

Although the gig at Munich's 59:1 was painfully short (because singer Harriet wasn't feeling too well), I enjoyed all of the few songs they played.
I hope they will return to Munich - as they promised - to play a longer set.

On Board hatte ich schon mal auf einem Kitsuné Sampler gehört, jetzt erscheint das Debüt-Album der Friendly Fires. Mal wieder ein guter Album Tipp in den Prime Cuts von FM4.

I have no excuse why I missed the release of the third album Being there of Tord Gustavsen Trio a few weeks ago.

During lunch break I went straight to the local CD store to make up for this and buy the album.

I'm back from Salzburg!

This was my first festival since 2003 and even though it was quite exhausting, I can still do it! ;-)

Weather was good - mostly sunny and not too hot - and I saw a lot of good and few bad performances:

• Sugarplum Fairy (only the last songs - because the gate from the camp ground was opened too late!)


• Gods of Blitz


• Kaizers Orchestra (powerful performance, first highlight of the day)


• Kettcar (nice, but a bit rushed)


• Eagles of Death Metal (three words: Rock and Roll!)

I've been to a gig of Tord Gustavsen Trio yesterday night and had a great time.

Actually I'm not too much into modern Jazz music and I got to know the trio by accident as the band of female Jazz singer Silje Nergaard. Another funny thing: this is the first artist I've seen live for the third time - this time without Silje playing tunes from their two albums and I wasn't disappointed: a very passionate performance by Tord and his fellow band members.

I just discovered Ivy as the artist of the theme song from "Stephen King's Kingdom Hospital" (for those who don't know it: it was just shown on German TV and I recommend it to anyone who liked "Twin Peaks", don't be fooled by Stephen Kings name in it - this is not like his usual stuff and it's also got European director Lars von Trier as producer).

I will check out their album "Long distance"…
