22 Feb 2006, 7:16My band, Next Big Thing, just won our local Battle of the Bands competition. We had to open the show, and we STILL beat out eight other bands. Anyway, I recorded the show from a DVD made and uploaded it on our website. Also, if you could vote for our artist pic on our last.fm music page (linked above), that would be great.
17 Feb 2006, 4:52Don't get me wrong, I think American Idiot is a great album. Although the playing is a bit simplistic (even for Green Day), the addition of new timbres and production ideas more than made up for it.
That being said, I really don't get any sort of coherent storyline from the album. It appears to me that they repeat a few names throughout a bunch of different songs, split two tracks into chapters, and call it a rock opera.
Of course, if there are any Green Day aficionados out there that can explain the story of Jesus and Whatsername in detail, please feel free to do so.
16 Feb 2006, 3:03Emphasized song titles. Seriously, the days of "Number 2 is my favorite track" are over. With ripped CDs, everyone knows the title that the artist chose for every song, and that's the way it should be. The title is the headline for what you are hearing. It's the first thing you should think before listening to a song, and the last thing you should think of when you are done.
Feel free to post other benefits the digital age has provided.
14 Feb 2006, 15:09Haiku is my newest obsession. I don't know exactly why I love it so much, but it has been on loop every day at least once since I got their album. Check it out.
12 Feb 2006, 18:56I'm sorry, but I try and try to get into them and The Sex Pistols are just terrible. No talent, a puppeted message (I will admit that it's a shame they got screwed), and also no talent at all.
Don't even click on them.
12 Feb 2006, 1:16I was just introduced to Panic! at the Disco.
I am leaving now to buy their album because they have one of the coolest sounds I've ever heard. Think indie rock meets pop-punk, but with early 90's swing style vocals. Color me hooked.
