Review: The Wonder Years w/ Valencia & Such Gold @ O2 Academy 2, Newcastle

Tue 13 Sep – The Wonder Years, Valencia, Such Gold

So I missed most of Such Gold because of traffic, so I won't comment on them.

Now, I was so excited to see Valencia. Like, ridiculous amounts. And they fucking delivered. Seriously, Shane Henderson is a fantastic singer. They played everything I wanted to hear + one cover of Linoleum by NOFX. Simply divine. Of course, all of the HXC arseholes at the gig didn't appreciate them because they're not HXC enough... which was disappointing because they deserved such a better crowd. But still, I thoroughly enjoyed it. Even got to meet Shane at the end, so I'm happy.

I was a bit apprehensive of The Wonder Years tbh, 'cause I hadn't listened to the new album, but it was alright. Really alright, because they were fucking EPIC! Much better than the last time I saw them. Again, played absolutely everything I could possibly want to hear, including Logan Circle, Washington Square Park, You're not Sallinger. Get over It. and My Last Semester. AND I bought one of their windbreakers (or kagools to us Brits I guess)...

...which I love :D

So yes, fantastic gig all round. Major love for TWY right now.
