Yeah, it was great. ASIWYFA were my favourites, but they were always going to be really. Also loved Axes, Delta Sleep, Rolo Tomassi, Arcane Roots and Polymath. Really disappointed by Castrovalva and Blacklisters though, love their studio stuff but were both pretty poor live.

Awfully disappointed with the new Fuck Buttons. Still, it was the same case with Mount Kimbie and they redeemed themselves live so still hoping for a good gig in September.

Didn't see Portishead due to logistics. Walked past on way to the Horrors. Silly amount of clashes, in the end, but there were a few acts (like Fuck Buttons) that I'm seeing later in the year anyway so trying not to beat myself up. Highlights: Jagwar Ma, Foals, James Blake and Hessle Audio. Mount Kimbie pulled it off too. So what is it exactly that you've looked up recently?

My new earplugs arrived, my second pair of ACS ER-20s. I've read on their forums that MBV are quieter this time around but not risking it!

Cool. Fair enough, but I still find them scary.

Yeah, I've already taken a liking to their stuff actually, been making to check them out. I guess post-metal is my style, lol. I've also been finding myself drawn to the more technical side of things, but I'm afraid I still don't quite completely get the likes of Dillinger. I guess that might change yet, but for now, I've got to be honest, anything with the word 'technical' in the genre description sounds to me just like a disorganised, unintelligent mess of screamy-shouty-moshiness. Anyway, yeah, I'm pretty open to metal, and I'll get off my backside and look into Neurosis. Cheers. BTW, how are you liking Crippled Black Phoenix? Heard any of their other stuff yet?

Hey -so this is the shoutbox thing. Cool. Yeah, I reckon you're probably right. TBH metal on the whole is actually relatively new to me - I never really listen to any real metal until I Oceansize showed me how it can really be done smartly and meaningfully. Since then I've opened my mind a bit and yeah, I'm partial to a bit of smashy-boom heaviness now and then.

Ah, I rarely venture from the depths of the pit but yeah, I have seen you around. Cheers :) I like pretty much everything on your charts too. Nice to see a guy with some avant garde taste on UG. And thank you, I totally forgot about British Theatre, I was impressed by their first thing and they've released a new thing too. Just bought it. Boom.

Yeah it was amazing, but it was the first time I'd seen them so not much to compare it to. The support was cool too, Joe Volk, if you like some more mellow stuff. The rest of the setlist included Rattlesnake some new tracks from their split with Joe Volk and they ended with Flood Pt.3.

Oh right, haha. Who'd have thought a 'composition & technology' course would be so similar content-wise to a 'music' course lol.

That's cool, sounds like my course minus all the classical stuff. I do sometimes wish I'd done a course more focused on technology and timbre and such, but the symphony analysis was really interesting as well. We didn't really end up studying anything in much depth, which I imagine you will. There was almost too much variety.
