I didn't think A Twist in the Myth was bad, in fact, I really liked it but I expected the band to take a different approach than what was really done on the new album.

It might just be my album of the year so far. I was shocked...it surpassed all my expectations.

I'll try them out soon. I've been listening to lots of Porcupine Tree lately. I think you may enjoy the band :D I also got a chance to give Dream Theater's "Black Clouds and Silver Linings" a listen. I simply love Wither and A Rite Of Passage. On other plans , I finished taking my transfer exams and I think I did fairly well (didn't really get the results yet). I'm transferring from the mathematics-informatics profile to philology. Took me long enough to figure out I never knew what I was doing there in the first place xD How about you? :D

Could you reccomend me some Symphony X and Pain of Salvation albums to start with? I'm planning to give those bands a listen really soon.

Ah , I see. Evergrey , you say?xD They visited my country touring with Amorphis (a band which I actually like a lot , you should try their new stuff , they've had a change of style from death/doom metal to something that's quite close to progressive and has clean vocals generally. I'd reccomend the songs Silent Waters and Sky Is Mine) but I never got to listen to them. I'm open to reccomendations however :P

Hmm , Beyond the Pale sounds pretty good , but the songs didn't impress me that much. Since I'm totally amazed by Dream Theater recently , I have to ask , have you tried the bands that actually influenced Petrucci & co.? Bands like Kansas , Journey , Jethro Tull and Pink Floyd?

Well , I'll get my hands on Paradise Lost tomorrow. Could you reccomend any Circus Maximus albums? I'm really into trying progressive bands lately. And oh , have you ever heard Tool?

I left Constant Motion out?Damn. I think I've heard Symphony X once or twice and wasn't really impressed , but if I'll get the chance to try Paradise Lost , I will :P

Well , I gave the albums a listen , and to be honest , I liked Systematic Chaos more. Nevertheless , they're both extremely complex pieces of music. In The Presence of Enemies (both parts) and As I Am are brilliant songs.

I got my hands on Train of Thought and Systematic Chaos. Now to decide which end to start with...

Oh ya? Okay cool, I'll have to listen to more of their stuff. And ah Dream Theater. I have of course heard of them, but I don't know if I've actually listened to any of their music so I'll check them out. But ya it does sort of seem that way. I thought when you started getting into power metal that you would eventually go further down the rabbit hole, but it hasn't happened yet. :P

Haha fair enough, I know they were definitely an acquired taste for me. :P But oh Epica has harsh vocals? Wow I didn't even know that. Gave one of their songs a listen just now and I actually kinda liked it...haha. But ya it's kinda funny how I got into harsh vocals, because I'd hear certain artists that used them sparingly (mainly Bullet For My Valentine and Red Jumpsuit Apparatus), and I found that I really liked those parts and wanted to hear songs with more of that. So eventually I moved onto Children of Bodom, Norther, Kalmah, etc. (which are the artists I was going to recommend that you check out), and finally went all the way with bands like Nile, Suffocation, Necrophagist, etc. I can remember when I first heard Nile and thought "What the hell is this?!" though lol.

Hah! Even before I submitted that last shout, I knew I was setting myself up for that one. :P So I see a ton of power metal listens, but you still haven't had any interest in music with harsh vocals? Because I have some suggestions that might be up your alley, but they do have some harsh vocals so that might put you off them.

Conóceme

I like some rock, some classical, and most "clean" metal, mainly progressive metal, power metal and symphonic metal. I also love my orchestral stuff.
