Early Works For Me is a definitely more electronic. He hadn't really integrated the use of vocals and other instruments by then yet. It's decent and I like it much more than Something Always Goes Wrong but his newer stuff is the best.
I haven't listened to Four Tet as much as I should've by now. I do like their remix for Kings Of Convenience a lot though:
The Weight Of My Words (Four Tet Instrumental Remix) If you haven't listened to Boards Of Canada before, you should give them a try.
P.S. I don't like the term IDM either, as addressed in the last few comments of my journal here.
Good journal! :)
Thanks! Yeah, I'm not sure how I felt about Something Always Goes Wrong... it was just sort of there for me. I really like Four Tet, I first heard them through their remix of Scatterbrain (Four Tet Remix) I'll definitely check out Boards of Canada, thanks for the read!
