I know there's a lot of shit in the world, but I don't need music to tell me that. I mean there are bands I like that are rebelling against the established order (The Clash, MC5, Sex Pistols) and some bands that I don't take the politics very seriously like NOFX and Green Day, but there are certain limits for me. I'm a very positive guy and have not much to complain so I don't feel like listening to Keith Morris's angry rants or for example RATM's overpolitical nonsense. Music for me is entertainment, and when I want to gain a new perspective on life I read a book, internet, talk to people, watch a movie or find another place to get the information. I don't believe rock music will solve worldhunger or get a politician to leave or change their ideas. Though I gotta say some bands are just cool because of that (Sex Pistols) and their impact on society back then.

The world is interpreted in many different ways and listening to all different types helps gain perspective. Listening to only a few types limits one greatly. It's fine if that's what you want but life is more than just a good time. I feel a lot of that good time rock is the government blinding you from what's really out there. Most of them are big label bands who can say they're having a good time because they can do anything. The bands who don't make money are the ones with real perspective.

That's not all I listen to, but indeed I mostly listen to good rock n roll with a positive vibe. Partying and blabla is just blink I still actually listen to. But when I listen to music I want to relate to it or at least understand the point of view and that's not some dude from a suburban beachtown in the USA yelling and complaining about life and people.

Oh so you prefer song about "oh I love you. You're all the matters." That's the world everyone wants but the fact is the world is hell. Everything does suck. Screaming is just another way to show a different emotion. Art, which music is, should have many perspectives. Look at your top bands. They're all bands that bitch about girls and going out partying. I personally need more than just that in my library.

"this 55 year old grandpa still singing about how much he hates people" I'm assuming you mean Keith Morris, yes? Welllllllllllllll he's not a grandfather, doesn't have kids nor a wife. His lyrics are about people who are ignorant and a government that supports ignorance. Also he's bringing hardcore back which is noble. But I forget you hate hardcore, 150 bmp or lower for Julian =P <3

I don't think it's a bad album at all. I think most people dislike this album just for the fact that 2 of the former members of the band got kicked out, so it wasn't the original The Clash anymore. Though I think it's a nice album. Kinda a step back to their rock n roll roots without the reggae. And now the last album we haven't discussed yet: Combat Rock. What do you think of that one?

Yeah I like Charlie Don't Surf (nice laidback) and Police on my Back too. My favorite song on Sardinista is definitely Magnificent Seven. Really funky song and considered as one of the first political hiphop songs. It's funny that The Clash also contributed to hiphop, haha. I especially love the lyrics in that song. Yeah London Calling is a really great album. Musically genius. But I prefer the first two albums. Especially their debut album with songs like White Riot, Career Opportunities and London's Burning. Never get bored of those! But actually all their songs on that album are fantastic imo. Yeah Give 'Em Enough Rope is really great too. Cleaner and better produced than their first album, but that's also the reason why I prefer their debut album. :P What's your top 3 The Clash songs? (if you have a top 3)

Yeah same here. The first 3 albums (especially the first 2 in my opinion) are really great, but then Sandinista has so many songs and mixes a lot of different genres so it doesn't really feel like The Clash to me. But I will fully get into it eventually but now there are just a few songs I really like but also songs I don't like at all. Your favorite The Clash album is London Calling?
