This is interesting, because Africa isn't really known for having much of a metal scene, save for some South African Black Metal, which is really made of white people. Metal, particularly its extreme subgenres, is really not widely accepted by those of African lineage. This is due to a number of reasons, but I won't go list them because you probably already know them. Well, enjoy.

The posting of this is indeed quite late, given that this review was written on May 26, 2007. I procrastinated and just didn't type the damn thing.

The initials WAT ostensibly abbreviate “War on Terror.” This has been denied by the Slovenian group, insisting that the initials stand for “We Are Time.” This is supported by the title track, to which the phrase is chanted. Review: My December – Kelly Clarkson

My December is perhaps the most anticipated pop/rock album of 2007, competing with other such albums like Avril Lavigne’s The Best Damn Thing and Pop/R&B hybrids such as Rihanna’s Good Girl Gone Bad. And my parents will not allow me to bring my iPod (Apparently, they've heard that there are lots of thieves and pickpockets there, no offense to anybody Spanish). Consequently, I cannot write anything new concerning music, unless album notes have already been taken. This is the case with My Bloody Valentine and Laibach, but not for Kelly's new album. What a disappointment.

Some time later, I will be spending three weeks at Georgetown University studying Constitutional Law for the Junior State of America. Hopefully, I will have my iPod then.

Review: Minutes to Midnight – Linkin Park

Linkin Park remains as an extremely popular (and often derided) band. By their sound, they are nu-metal and rapore, but by lyrics, some have even gone so far as to call them emo.

But to call them “emo” would be a misnomer, a sort of grave injustice to the labeling of music. Indeed, their sound is edgy, and their angsty lyrics appeal to a broad audience, ranging from middle schoolers to college students. This has indeed contributed to their massive success. But their…

It's different from Breakaway. My December almost seems to venture into Alternative Rock, though it's still largely pop/rock. It sounds very different from the more commerically oriented Breakaway, where it's easy to tell the work of standard pop songwriters such as John Shanks and Kara DioGuardi. This is a much more emotional album, and you can tell effort was put into almost every song.

And I'm listening to it right now. I'll get a review out ASAP, but seeing as to how I have already written the reviews for WAT by Laibach, Minutes to Midnight by Linkin Park, and Loveless by My Bloody Valentine, yet failed to type and post them due to exams, expect a delay. My apparent procrastination: it's pretty sad. That, and I'll be away from home for seven weeks during summer. Hopefully, I'll get it done by the week Kelly Clarkson's album hits the shelves.
