The idea of having a blues musician of the week is a great idea! I've discovered some amazing musicians, but I feel like I've only skimmed the surface, so I may do the same. I have this issue where I get stuck in one genre for a long while, get burned out, and then I switch to a different genre of tunes, only to come back to the previous genres when I'm ready to burn myself out again. lol I've been in psychedelic mode for quite a while now, but I can tell i'm starting to get back to my folk roots, which usually means that the older blues and jazz tunes come next. It's a weird cycle, but I think subconciously it helps me in an eclectic kind of sense, so I can continue to discover as many older and newer tunes as possible. I know what you mean about lisening to the same songs over and over again though. I used to the same, but now I try to listen to whole albums... it helps with the "getting burned out" issue.

I don't think anyone could master that kind of cool ever again! I completely understand what you're saying. One thing I respect so much about the blues, from the earlier 20th century, is the fact that music actually had raw emotion; you could feel their pain when they sang. Now a days, there's a lot of wonderful music out there, but it's not the same; it's possibly more pleasant to the ear, but it's more difficult to relate to what you're listening to.

If I were a girl, I'd want to be Big Momma Thornton. She sings and plays the harmonica. She's the total package. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BsG4RwBwBeA&feature=related (Warning: This is probably the best video on youtube)

I know exactly what you mean! I've always wanted a voice like Mississippi John Hurt or John Lee Hooker; it's the perfect blend of rasp and deepness. If i were that lucky, I'd never quit talking. lol
