Hopefully the organisation is a bit better next year then. Do give Monad a listen! My bad experience was over christmas... that wouldn't help. I die a little inside every time I see overseas shipping costs. That's quite sly of you ;). Wish I knew of this earlier before I spent all my money shipping over records from the states :(... Being a student blows.

Quite disappointing news :(. It'd be irritating if they didn't, maybe they could announce the shows more than three weeks prior to the show. The Dawn of Mournful Hymns is a really good compilation. Do check out The Monad of Creation when you can, that album is phenomenal! I have to order the new Esoteric from Season of Mist, last time I ordered from there I got some DsO CD's and it took 5 months to get here. Might wait for a while to see if any Australian distro's get it in.

Very disappointed about the Negura Bunget cancellation, was much looking forward to seeing them live :( And it's not often bands of their quality come to Perth.

I haven't listened to it yet, I just noticed you listened to them a fair bit. I'll definitely procure it in the near future. I saw them live yes, probably the most amazing metal show I've been to in my life. So entrancing and beautiful beyond comprehension, really. New album is somewhat between Monad and The June Frost. Better than The June Frost, but not even coming close to Monad. Though; a solid release none the less. I'd honestly never even heard of Negură before they announced the tour... Been checking them out like crazy, their last 3 albums are really good!

Shipping kills! Yeah i'v had some awsome finds from browsing distro's. I only ever buy stuff when Overseas labels have free shipping for orders over a certain amount. Can't justify buying one cd or record and spending $10-30 on shipping. That's awsome about the PhD, your studying what I want to. I havn't studied since graduating high school, I decided to study at tafe before heading to uni... get me used to a schooling routine. I'm the same kind of found my way into extreme music as well, most of my older friends never got past the heavy metal stage, or are into core. I'v had a lot more luck that late with people and I do admit i'v held myself back a bit (personal development with my instruments) and whatnot. Hopefully over the next few years, some allies and myself will bring some doom upon Perth.

It's always good finding a gem on CD or vinyl, I feel bad saying I download a majority of my music, but the releases I really enjoy i'll try and buy it. Depends on cash flow, i'm a student. Don't really have that much cash. I know a fair few as well, not really into hanging out in the local music scene though, there aren't really that many decent shows here unfortunately. I almost never go to any of the metal shows and I find myself flying over to Sydney for their local gigs. I usually head to the Wardaemonic shows because a couple of my friends are in the band and help set up etc. I play drums and bass guitar, though i'm not currently in any bands. Hard to find people into the same kinds of music unfortunately. Those that are interested in the same kinds of music aren't up for any musical commitment or are already busy with other bands...

Why thank you, I must say you have brilliant charts yourself. You're not alone, there are a lot more than you think, I think.

They haven't put a foot wrong.. and that is something I can't say for too many bands. I remember being blown away the day I first heard To the Nameless Dead, was the album that got me into Black Metal . Imrama or The Gathering Wilderness would be my favourites now though, which one is your favourite? I'm sure their new album will be just as good as their others, most anticipated album of the year for me . Coming out in autumn sometime I think? Blood Revolt are one of those bands I've heard of (their album released last year got some good reviews on a few websites), but haven't gotten around to listening to yet. Think I might change that soon though :P. Lots of other great bands on your charts as well. Deathspell Omega, Negura Bunget, The Ruins of Beverast, Destroyer 666 and... Sigur Ros :o

That's cool. I'll have to get my hands on that one some day. As for Abigor, well basically their first four releases are perfect and well worth hearing. 'Verwüstung / Invoke the Dark Age,' 'Orkblut - The Retaliation.' 'Nachthymnen (From the Twilight Kingdom)' and 'Opus IV' are all classics in my opinion. They tapered off a little from here, but there are still some great songs to be found on each subsequent release. There newer industrial/experimental black metal style is really interesting and worth checking out too. So, basically check out those first four releases as they are the bands finest moments. Hope that helps.
