Oh man, you know how I feel about that new grimes... The fXXcking beats on these songs: When the sample plays out a bit at 2 min, damn Harry Fraud is just killing it. I didn't know he'd done the "New York Minute" beat til I read his beat construction, I've loved that song for literally years now

Also, I'm kind of obsessed with Cassie's chorus on this song: ----I also used to love Mashonda, been getting back into her--her chorus here and this one So hyped for the next Cassie, I really like King of Hearts, she's just perfection

Yeah that Fat Trel is really good--so many styles, but none of it really seems forced, pretty unexpected. That Schoolboy Q is really growing on me, couldn't get into it at first. And Spacedghostpurrp--man those albums are like worlds. And as for the new Burial, well, yr boy is going thru some rough times so burial is talking real loud lol. R u down with Grimes? Loved her since Halfaxa, n Visions kills me. And Lil B truly inspires me day to day, always loved him, but never truly needed him before. He just offers daily scripture.

The A$AP was all I was listening to for a while, the vocals and the production, esp. the Soufien3000 tracks blew my mind. How did he link with this french dude? And it's weird how A$AP and Max B do seem to share a Harlem sound that I love--any wavy tapes in particular I should DL? "Chuch" by Main Attrakionz kills me too--it's crazy how much that Clams aesthetic is flourishing way beyond him. The synths on the chorus for Money on the Floor are great--i love how that sound is so classic but still sounds really current. That Young L Praktica tape is also kicking my ass right now. Liked the last two Soulja tapes, seems like he's really having fun with his production/vocals outside the public eye. And the Stayhatin collections look great, still gotta DL those...

I agree some about I'm Gay, I think it's his consciously populist album, beyond the fact that he gave it away on facebook (I friended him a while ago, basedgod apparently grants these kinds of requests. the album showed up in my mini-feed). The b/wayne track is pretty meh, I feel the same about the Tyler/Pusha track. The Wayne tape is ok, I like the punchline, no ceilings type stuff, and with all the album/mixtape hybrids I actually feel it's kind of throwback to just rap over a bunch of the hot beats of the moment, especially for someone like Wayne who's already famous. But the beat selection combined with the lyrical approach means I probably won't give it too many repeat listens. And damn I hadn't even heard Jagged Edge had some new shit, gotta catch up, loved let's get married and goodbye really got me right *here* in high school. Remedy going down real easy so far

I'm gay is the real thing--the title/album's like a meta statement about the hype and hater cycle he's caught in, where the title spotlights his new school lightning rod role while the album does its thing totally independent of that. It feels really old school, engaged but good-natured, its all infused with what a cool dude he is

Damn he destroys that freestyle--"married to the game, treat you like my stepkids" "so much cribs, friends gotta housesit"--but yeah the vibe and even the hooks on the studio stuff is the complete package, like the "pusha" part on "Get high," and on this song Was not expecting that freestyle at all, a whole diff dimension, he must have a lot in the tank for an lp.>>And, hadn't heard the Asobi before--there's something about that repetition, like desperately trying over and over, slightly differently, to get at something, that's really moving

Yeah I agree, there is a lot to talk and like about Goblin, but what struck me from the very first listen is that you could make a strong case for Bastard being a better album, and his production is treading water; two years is a lifetime for a lot of young producers but idk if he's progressed much at all in that area. And I'm puzzled that Hodgy seems to be getting all the attention, I definitely like Domo more and am looking forward to his album the most, he also seems the most crossover-ready. And damn I have a lot of cocaine blunts to catch up on, that H2O was unexpected--I loved "Make the trap" but he obv. wasn't the rapper Gucci is. Seems like some time off from Zaytoven served OJ well tho

You should check out that new Killer Mike, no FlyLo beats on it but the production and lyrics are still super solid. I gotta get back up on the new rap, haven't kept my ear to things and haven't heard much I liked this year yet. Quik's album seems like it's getting good reviews but "wack" is the 1st word that comes to mind when I think of it. New G-Side is--ok but I don't think they've topped starships & rocketz. And I know you're on that hip-hop/rnb tip but Holy Other is seriously....

Digging that ASAP Rocky, chorus and vibe kind of reminds me of one of my old favs And damn I get on the fader only to find out that Kreayshawn has a major label deal. Does anyone actually do A & R for them anymore or do they just cruise blogs? I think the OF co-sign might seriously have got them to sign her.

Are Junior Boys too twee for you? I'm digging the new album. But more to the point--I've been all about Blawan since the Hessle single, but have you heard this yet? This and the Bohla EP are crazy: More of that post-Burial/Kode9 Brandy love
