DID YOU ALREADY LAUGH TODAY ?
"why is music important ?" watch the ads for the sheep. they tell you.

i'll tell you something completely different. even more important than music. deal ?

let me start with a personal question.

if your daily life is not kissed by the muses and by eros, what are you up to ?

are you going to visit my page without reading what i'm telling you here ? what's the point of this behavior ? some people seem to be ignorant. are you ?

are you here for the music or for "games people play" ?

i'm a player. but i don't play your game. i make my own rules.

the tiger, grown up in a flock of sheep, thinks he is a sheep.there is nothing wrong with the world but your view of it. you have an unbelievable potential. will you use it ? don't distract yourself with abusing last.fm's shoutboxes for kindergarten games. do you really want to have your choice of words worse than your choice of music ? think about it.

the sheep, grown up in a herd of tigers, thinks he is a tiger. only until the tigers know better.if people don't accept other people as they are, they better leave. because i do accept you, and i do accept me. but i don't tolerate disrespectful or abusive acts, and i don't tolerate people who try to teach me or to give me "advice" without being asked to do so. that's why i stay. i came to understand that courage in life is even better than sex.

all things better than sex, i will do. this is my life, and i adore it. there is nothing better. heaven is too boring, and hell is too dangerous.

extraordinary people with an extraordinary vision, do they have ordinary problems ? no way ! believe me, you can't add to my problems, so why try ? i'm bigger than my own problems, and i can't see yours.

that's why i accept my "failures" and "mistakes" as extremely valuable and exciting experiences in my life that give me a lot to learn about.

and to laugh.

i learned to realize easily when i'm ignorant because i'm a constant learner. nevertheless i do appreciate it when people additionally try to show me how ignorant i really am. in the time they waste their energy to only show that one man is ignorant, i show to a crowd why it's ignorant and more importantly show them how to overcome it. decide for yourself who is more effective and has more influence.

my kids call me 'the tiger'. they already learned that he is a pet when playing with them, a pussy when handling narrow-minded people or behaviors, and a beast when it comes to fighting the real enemy. they understand that the tiger knows when and how to be 'gefährlich' (german for dangerous).you might have got it already, i welcome people with great character. you are welcome to be my friends. but in case you don't adhere to mutual respect, honesty, and the ability for peacemaking, please leave my page without making noise. i don't care much about you. i always will win, whatever the outcome. so why waste energy ?

please understand that i do value my time as i do yours. don't ask me for recommendations out of the blue. you are always invited to join some of the 100+ groups i created and find a wealth of connected and featured artists with an enormous broad range of genres and styles. you even can enjoy a plethora of specific radio stations i created. please don't expect me to follow all the links i get each and every day. i acknowledge your good intention, but i have my own agenda.

nothing i said here is meant personally. but in case you understand it personally ... you should.

what i like most ? you guess.

laughing.

it's better than music.

okay, now for even more fun. as i learned from some young intelligent and cool last.fm users with a fresh ignorant character that our world needs so badly in order to survive, the following quotes are "retarded", and i am "f**ing old". so be aware of it, haha. it's on your own risk, if you read them. they will only make you elder and wise ...

trying to explain music is like trying to dance architecture.
—thelonious monk

music is your own experience, your thoughts, your wisdom. if you don't live it, it won't come out of your horn.
—charlie parker

the effects of good music are not just because it's new; on the contrary music strikes us more the more familiar we are with it.
—johann wolfgang von goethe

if you develop an ear for sounds that are musical it is like developing an ego. you begin to refuse sounds that are not musical and that way cut yourself off from a good deal of experience.
—john cage

if this word "music" is sacred and reserved for eighteenth and nineteenth century instruments, we can substitute a more meaningful term: organization of sound.
—john cage

my music is best understood by children and animals.
—igor stravinsky

nothing separates the generations more than music. by the time a child is eight or nine, he has developed a passion for his own music that is even stronger than his passions for procrastination and weird clothes.
—bill cosby

rock music in its lyrics often talks ahead of the time about what's going on in the country.
—edmund g. brown

a guy walks up to me and asks, 'what's punk?' so i kick over a garbage can and say, 'that's punk!' so he kicks over the garbage can and says, 'that's punk?' and i say, 'no, that's trend.'
—billie joe armstrong

hell is full of musical amateurs.
—george bernhard shaw

military justice is to justice what military music is to music.
—groucho marx

too many pieces of music finish too long after the end.
—igor stravinsky

music is spiritual. the music business is not.
—van morrison

music is everybody's possession. it's only publishers who think that people own it.
—john lennon

there are more love songs than anything else. if songs could make you do something we'd all love one another.
—frank zappa

when the power of love overcomes the love of power the world will know peace.
—jimi hendrix

if music be the food of love, play on.
—william shakespeare

without music, life would be a mistake.
—friedrich nietzsche

life can't be all bad when for ten dollars you can buy all the beethoven sonatas and listen to them for ten years.
—william f. buckley, jr.

i shall hear in heaven.
—ludwig van beethoven (his last words)

one last word of mine before some higher spirits take over.

without knowing you, i bet the music you are listening to, is . but try to find this tag on last.fm ... and despite the fact that it's that simple and true, most of you try to label their music with a bunch of so-called genre and style pigeonholes, some of them pure media- and industry-induced zero-meaning concepts, or, helplessly, 'icelandic', 'female vocalist' etc... i know that our musical education sucked. but nevertheless, you believe, if you call a kind of music 'chillout' or 'new age' or 'world' or 'emo' or even 'alternative', 'electronic', 'ambient, 'experimental', 'gothic', 'black metal' and 'japanese', it is. no, it is not. the music is nothing but music. every genius musician knows.

and now for my point. most of you call the music i'm listening to "Contemporary Classical". you don't know what music is, otherwise you wouldn't use such über-labels for music which is mostly not classical and often not even contemporary ... and you wouldn't pigeonhole the very different eras, epochs, genres, styles and forms of art music of the whole last 1,000 years just as one thing ... called "classical". listen closely, your favorite music only exists since a couple of years or decades, and it's nothing but (you didn't even know before reading my page, did you ?) Contemporary Popular. but not in 1,000 years. and you call this tiny niche of yours important ?

i'm a hedonist, and people call me Sir Hendrix or Deep Thought, Western Europe's toughest, most sensible and most expensive business mentor and coach for leaders, a writer, information designer, musician, composer, poet, rule breaker, philosopher, usability expert, creative director, entrepreneur, business owner, strategic advisor, CEO, father of lovely twin girls, lover of my cute vietnamese wife, a german passport owner, living at the beach in palma de mallorca, smoking cuban cigars and stellar ideas. i live with the fact of an IQ of only 140 whereas shakespeare and leonardo da vinci are said to have had 200 ... but with an IQ of 200, would i waste my time on last.fm ?

your playing small does not serve the world
our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. it is our light, not our darkness, that frightens us most. we ask ourselves, ‘who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, and famous ?’ actually, who are you not to be ? you are a child of god. your playing small does not serve the world. there is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that people won’t feel insecure around you. we were born to make manifest the glory of god that is within us. it’s not just in some of us ; it’s in all of us. and when we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. as we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.
—nelson mandela, 1994
(quoting marianne williamson)

know your source of power
most think that nonviolence is not to fight. on the contrary, nonviolence is the strongest power. it conquers the power of violence. my creed of nonviolence is an extremely active force. it has no room for cowardice or even weakness. there is hope for a violent man to someday become nonviolent, but there is no hope for a coward.
—mohandās 'mahātmā' gāndhī

do it anyway
people are often unreasonable, illogical, and self-centered—forgive them anyway.
if you are kind, people may accuse you of selfish, ulterior motives—be kind anyway.
if you are successful you will win some false friends and true enemies—succeed anyway.
if you are honest and frank, people may cheat you—be honest and frank anyway.
what you spend years building, some could destroy overnight—build anyway.
if you find serenity and happiness, they may be jealous—be happy anyway.
the good you do today, people will often forget tomorrow—do good anyway.
give the world the best you have, and it may never be enough—give the world the best you've got anyway.
you see, in the final analysis, it is between you and god—it was never between you and them anyway.
—mother theresa

never consider yourself the cause of the results of your activities, and never be attached to not doing your duty.
