So, as I have noticed, and perhaps you did, too, Beck is catching up with The Beatles on my overall chart-y thingie, and I feel the great musical gods in the sky with diamonds may demand an explaination.

You see, 'The Information', Beck's most recent album, came out not long ago. When I first get an album, I like to listen to it, well… a lot, to try to really understand what it's supposed to be, as a whole.

Now, even more recently, I bought another Beck album called 'Stereopathetic Soul Manure', and so I listen to that a lot.…

So. Beck came out with a new album. What have we come to expect from Beck? Innovation? Yeah. Catchy beats? Yeah. Rappy-hip-hoppy-glossy-pseudy-poppy-undescribability? Check. Stickers of horses doing it? Check mate.

The album is just that. It's Beck. If you like Beck, you'll love this album. It's Beck. It's exactly what you'd expect. There're no surprises, no new depth of sound, and no stand out favorite amongst the 14 tracks. Each is its own world of sound, which is exactly what Beck delivers everytime. Each track is unique, yet classifiable. We classify this sound as Beck.

I think my 3,000th play was Self Preservation Society which is a song I like 'cause it was at the end of the original "The Italian Job" with Michael Caine. :D Or it might have been , uh, In the Mood. Also a superb track.
